Vehicle Description
There are plenty of clues on the outside that this 1965 Ford
Mustang is an upgraded classic. But you're still going to be
impressed with the level of power and control that comes from the
upgraded V8, five-speed stick, and four-wheel disc brakes. It's the
kind of classic pony car for those who really like to get out there
and gallop.
This coupe has plenty of upgrades that make for a distinct cruiser
but still keeps its family lineage. For example, the Bright
Atlantic Blue looks more vibrant than what came on these original
first-year pony cars, but this upgrade was from a 1998 Ford color
palette. The receipts show it was upgraded in 2014, so there's a
right updated gloss that looks good in the sunshine. Plus, there
are sporty touches such as GT350-style hood scoop and hood pins.
The fog lights in the grille and dual exhaust tips poking out of
the rear valance are great Mustang GT features we love. And the
deep chin spoiler and bright Mag 500 wheels make this feel like
some of the later Boss Mustangs. It all makes for a sporty package,
but we also like how this even gets the fundamentals right. Nice
chrome bumpers and clean body lines make this mean Mustang has an
overall attractive style.
Inside, this pony car wants to remind you it's here to get down to
business. The upholstery, carpeting, door panels, headliner, dash,
and all other fundamentals are nice and dark. Even the courtesy
lights are working. You also get some nice comfort upgrades, like
an armrest center console with cup holders, an AM/FM stereo with
Aux input, and provisions for air conditioning (the blower will
need servicing.) There are even nice details like the pony floor
mats and working interior light package. Once you slip behind the
woodgrain steering wheel, you begin to feel the tingle of
performance that this Mustang radiates. The full AutoMeter gauge
package has crisp and clean readouts that keep you fully informed,
including the tach that's just as large as the speedo. And when you
count the gears on the Hurst shifter, you really know this one is
extra-special.
The motor has a bright and clean style that makes it worth showing
off. And we bet you'll do that just to mention this is running a
302 cubic-inch V8 - an upgrade to something larger than what was
available in 1965. It's further upgraded with the right pieces,
like a Holley four-barrel carburetor, a Pro Comp aluminum Intake,
and headers feeding the dual exhaust. There are also good
supporting components like an aluminum radiator with an electric
fan. You get to take full advantage of this upgraded power thanks
to the addition of a T5 five-speed manual transmission. Wide modern
tires, rear traction bars, and the superior stopping power of
four-wheel power disc brakes are all there to make this a great
all-around power pony.
Complete with owner's manual, this is the iconic pony car that was
built to stand out with its style and power. So you know you don't
