This 1978 FJ45 is a true survivor. Sold into Alberta Canada in 1978, It went to work for a land survey company (still has their decals) where it dutifully took the surveyor to remote locations. Then, once its commercial service ended, it was sold and wound up in an old Toyota hoarder's place where it sat for decades.
In the last 1-2 years:
The body was taken off the frame where it was sandblasted and painted with POR15. The body was re-installed with new hardware etc. The expensive glass is all good, but there is a crack down the center of the windshield
The 2F 4.2 is perfect. Starts and runs like a top and is dry on top and bottom. The clutch works as it should, and both the 4-speed trans and transfer case work flawlessly. Even still has the split rims and Michelin's.
This body is original, and it does have a lot of surface rust and a few small holes. The floors are solid top and bottom with no holes. The hood is heavily surface rusted as is the roof, but both fixable or inexpensively replaced. The driver's side has more rust. The box is in overall great condition. The main thing is that you know what you're getting; there are no Bondo surprises or otherwise shoddy work covered by shiny paint. This is a perfect base to build upon and if you know these trucks, the parts and patches are readily available and not expensive.
