For Sale: 1962 Sunbeam Alpine in Stratford, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

A car that has been restored by its last owner.....wouldn't suggest a top quality, body off, frame up restoration BUT (as seen), new paint, excellent (and probably original) chrome, all new interior, clean engine and trunk compartments, spotless hardtop (no doubt a very rare addition), stainless steel exhaust, dash, details, etc. Certainly ready for a local show.

The 1.6 OHV twin carb engine runs well, has 165-170 psi compression, 50 psi oil pressure (factory manual specifies 40-50 psi oil pressure when warm), no smoke, excellent synchromesh, brakes work well (discs in front), all electricals work, excellent ride, really a lovely car to drive.

Have never seen another Sunbeam with a hardtop, comes on and off easily, and very stylish when installed. The soft top doesn't look that old but is somewhat crinkled from being stored in its tidy compartment for years. Also, two small mouse holes (I think they mistook this car for Sunbeam bread), hence with two patches, amply usable, and the rear window is clear. Even comes with its original tonneau to cover the back seat area when not in use.

With the front seats forward, sufficient room for two kids in the back making this a 2+2. We could add a seat pad and two sets of lap belts and voila! A four seater.

Wiring appeals to be in excellent condition (which is to say, the mice didn't use it for dinner), floors look very good, trunk is very clean and its original spare wheel and original jack and lug wrench, all in all a sweet little classic sports car of about the same size and weight of an MGB, beautiul detail work (note that the factory leaded in all of the body seams, an expensive undertaking), parts are readily available from a number of sources in the USA, effortless cruising at any reasonable speed, fun to drive, and at most any show, should stand out and apart from lines of MGs, Morgans, Triumphs, Jaguars, and others. And its always fun to have something one rarely sees.
