Vehicle Description
1997 Bentley Brooklands Trophy Edition - Rebuilt Title - 6.8L
Turbocharged V8 - Automatic Transmission - 33k Miles - Black Over
Tan and Black Interior It's amazing to think that when new, the
Brooklands, a gorgeous luxury car, was on the lower end of the
Bentley line-up as far as pricing went. A price of $156k was quite
a large chunk of change even in the late 90's. Still, they are cars
that were hand built luxury machines which could actually perform
if pushed. A large displacement V8 with a turbocharger gave this
Bentley a little oomph, and the ability to put down approximately
446 lb/ft of torque at 2,000 rpms. Again at the time the car was
built, that was quite a large amount of torque for a high-end
luxury sedan. The trophy Edition cars were built in very limited
numbers to commemorate Bentley's first participation at the Isle of
Man Tourist Trophy competition. Although we can't prove this,
according to our research, there were only 28 Trophy Editions sold
in North America. The car you see here is a 1997 Bentley Brooklands
Trophy Edition finished in Black over a tan and black trimmed
interior. The car shows approximately 33,882 miles on the odometer
and has a 6.75 Liter V8 under the hood. The Brooklands rather
simple, yet handsome, design is unmistakable. Black paint covers
the body, while multiple pieces of chrome trim throughout the
exterior add visual interest. Brooklands Trophy Edition vehicles
can be identified from other Brooklands cars by the body painted
grille vanes, and chrome 5 spoke alloy wheels. As you would expect,
the interior is very luxurious and trimmed with lots of wood and
leather. Another indicator of a Trophy Edition car are the two tone
seating surfaces, in this case tan seats with black seat inserts.
Wood trim can be found everywhere you look; the dashboard, center
console, door panels, and c-pillars. The vantage point from the
driver's seat is extraordinary, and makes you feel as if you're
about to embark on a profound journey. Lots of gauges are mounted
across the wood trimmed dashboard, and metal pull tabs, and chrome
vents add to the fancy aesthetic. The rebuilt title, we are told,
is a result of a low speed, front end collision in a workshop where
the car was at the time. As you can imagine, Bentley parts were
quite expensive, so getting the parts to repair the car properly
ended up being quite a large amount of money. Because of that, the
insurance company declared the car a total loss. The phrase pulling
like a freight train was given new meaning when the Brooklands was
released with its very torquey V8 engine. Firm pressure on the
accelerator pedal was sure to put passengers back in their seats,
and grins on their faces as the Brooklands leapt into action. A 300
horsepower 6.75 Liter V8 with a good-sized Garrett turbocharger
worked into the engine's intake/exhaust system takes up a large
portion of the engine bay. The transmission is a 4-speed automatic.
This car is unmistakably Bentley from the exterior to the smooth
torquey engine. Exclusivity doesn't have to come at a huge price in
the case of this Brooklands Trophy Edition. One of 28 Trophy
Edition cars for North America, it's highly unlikely that anyone in
your area also has one in their stable. Please call if you are
