Vehicle Description
A slick red coupe with big block power and four-on-the-floor makes
this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Tribute a true dream muscle
car. But as you dig deeper, you'll also see a quality restoration
with thoughtful details - including cold-blowing A/C - that makes
this mean machine an all-around awesome package.
Red is always a favorite on the classic Chevelle, and this one has
a luster that will make you fall in love the moment it comes to
your view. In fact, the build was completed less than 600 miles
ago, and the way the light rolls evenly across the whole car just
reaffirms its quality. It has been upgraded correctly to a Super
Sport with the cowl hood, SS badging, wide dual exhaust tips, and
hood pins all sending a powerful message. Plus, the racing stripes
painted on top are an iconic piece for a Super Sport, and we are
glad they were done in black to go well with the blackout grille,
blackout rear panel, and premium vinyl roof. And because we love
the brightwork on these classics, it looks mirror-like everywhere
from the window trim to the big form-hugging bumpers. So the whole
car represents a terrific classic with just the right
well-integrated upgrades. In fact, the wheels really show this
best. They look like vintage GM Rally units, but the 18/20-inch
stagger means they're modern alloys that fit the wheel well so
nicely.
The black interior is a tasteful choice especially when it
coordinates with the black accents on the outside. The seats,
carpets, dash, and headliner have a deep dark appearance of a
well-restored package. There's a great vintage appearance, right
down to details like the working dome light and insignia trim on
the seatbacks. And just like the exterior, there are also
well-integrated upgrades. The stereo is a retro-style AM/FM stereo,
and this now has a cold-blowing Vintage Air air conditioning
system. It's also a true driver's car with a three-spoke steering
wheel on a tilt column, a Hurst floor shifter, and a clear gauge
panel with large speedo and tach.
We all love the sight of Chevy's famous 454 cubic-inch V8 under the
hood, and this one was done right. Clean lines, smooth inner
fenders, a bright big block, and polished valve covers all look
good. And there's even a proper gasket around the air topper for
the true cowl induction hood. This fresh air feeds into a Holley
four-barrel carburetor and a high-rise intake to make for a
terrific power package. And you'll love how the Muncie M20
four-speed manual transmission gives you full control over this
muscular V8 and its rumbling soundtrack. As you look underneath,
you'll spot awesome suspension upgrades like the tubular front
A-arms, newer springs, newer bushings, boxed steel rear arms, and
Koni shocks. Add in power steering, power brakes, front discs, and
the grip of the upgraded modern tires, and this is a solid
all-around driver.
