For Sale: 1986 Ford F350 in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1986 Ford F350 4x4 Pickup

Ford took a major step forward in modernizing its F-150 pickup platform for 1980. For the previous 15 years, the full-size truck had ridden on chassis first designed in the 1960s, and although styling had advanced significantly during that period, there was no question the Blue Oval was looking to extend its advantage over Chevrolet and GMC, (and to a lesser extent Dodge), in wooing customers to one of the most profitable areas of its lineup. The end result was the Bullnose, the seventh generation version of the Ford F-150, and a truck whose design ended up defining the next decade and a half of the brand's pickup production. It's here that Ford finally got serious about delivering a comfortable experience to customers, a crucial turning point given that pickups were on their way to becoming daily drivers. Alongside its aerodynamic improvements and its ability to modernize aspects of the platform without reducing capability, it proved to be a formidable addition to the Ford family.

For consignment, an F350 4x4 right out of 1986. This former show truck has a rebuilt and slightly hopped up engine, a suspension lift kit, some snazzy knobby tires, new window tint, and a sandblasted and Ziebart coated frame. It is very sound structurally, drives splendidly for a lifted truck and has a comfy interior, oh and I almost forgot, it sports a Dukes Of Hazzard "Dixie Horn". Former show truck....my petutie....this monster is still a show truck and nobody can sway my opinion.

Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.*

Exterior
In iconic Ford fashion we lead off with the square and rectangle designed grille with its square headlights and directly below a horizontal signal light. Chrome trimming highlights the eggcrate sections of the grille and gives a wonderful custom look to the "bull nose" front end. Just below, a highly polished large and in chargebumper wraps slightly around the diorite quarters. Straight steel is bathed in black and is showing a few inclusions on the roof, but certainly no rust. Chrome and red F350 and Lariat badging accents those sides and we see large chromed rear view mirrors hanging off of either side of the doors. On top is a visor with some extra exterior lighting giving it that big rig feel. A cowl induction hood lies between the fenders and leads back to the stainless trimmed crystal clear windshield. Shiny wheel well moldings highlight the fender arches and chrome pull bars are mounted on the cab just behind the doors for help with making that tall climb in. A freshly Rhino-lined bed sits solidly behind the cab, covered by a black vinyl tonneau cover and holding a diamond plate tool box. A simple black tailgate hangs out in the back, sandwiched between the thin and tall tail lights with another mirror polished bumper below. 17-inch Dick Cepek wheels are wrapped in deeply treaded like new knobby 37x12.50R17 Federal rubber.

Interior
A swing of the doors and with the help of my step ladder it was time to climb up and in. Clean door panels make use of blue molded plastic, some chrome highlighting for mid section panels and blue carpeted lowers. Inside are nicely preserved light blue and royal blue overstuffed buckets, and a central jump seat which also folds down in the back to create an armrest. These chairs float in a sea of clean blue carpeting with the transfer case shifter dead center on the hump. The dash is pure Ford with a blue dash top which undulates up and down with sharp horizontal and vertical angles. Within these angles are some burl applique panels which house the gauges and a lineup of warning lights, including the factory tachometer. The dash center follows suit with more burl square and rectangle black panels, and some more blue molded plastic for the remainder. A digital clock, Jensen AM/FM/CD stereo, climate sliders, and controls for the underbody neon lighting are installed into the center of the dash. An aftermarket 3 spoke lacqueredwood rim steering wheel sits proudly atop the factory tilt column and peering up allows us to view the fuzzy blue broadcloth headliner.

Drivetrain
Under the hood in a very clean engine bay is a freshly rebuilt 351ciWindsor V8. This healthy mill is fed by a 4-barrel carburetor, has a mild performance camshaft installed along with roller rockers to actuate the valves. On the back is a C6 3-speed automatic transmission. Both axles are Dana axleswith the rear unit being a D60 and the front a TBB D50. Headers and a like newMagnaflow exhaust system are seen and heard! All emissions equipment has been faithfully removed.

Undercarriage
Freshly sandblasted and then undercoated with Ziebart undercoating, no rust is within the vicinity of the undercarriage. Leaf sprung suspension is on all 4 corners with a Rough Country lift kit installed, and in front power disc brakes and for the rear power drums. Our consignor notes that the entire brake system has recently been gone through.

Drive-Ability
I climbed in and took this big rig-esqe truck for a spin and was supposed at its brute force power. Those 351 cubes were all producing plenty of power, the transmission was smooth and all functions were working very nicely. The ride height gives you a panoramic view of all things, and also gives the driver and passengers the feeling of "don't eff with me!". While certainly capable of climbing the stone lined walls of our beloved Classic Auto Mall, I refrained from this behavior as I've come accustomed to this line of work and don't fancy asking if you'd like fries with your order.

A nice solid, powerful, great running, comfortable to drive, 4x4 ripe for the picking out of our Hallowed Halls of Classic Auto Mall. I'm sticking to my guns....former show truck my ass....this IS the show truck you need. You can even drive it to work and maybe make the other guys jealous!
