Vehicle Description
Chassis No. JT164JA8000027190
In the decades since its abrupt disappearance from the US and
European markets in the late 1990s, the Mark IV Toyota Supra has
secured a devoted, cult following that few other modern classics
have been able to achieve. What was conceived as a sporty sibling
to the Celica coupe in the late 1970s was its own model by 1986,
but it wasn't until its fourth generation that it became the
revered Japanese performance icon that is so fiercely prized
today.
Appearing in 1993, the Mark IV 'A80' Supra was Toyota's answer to
home-grown competition like the Honda NSX and Nissan 300ZX Turbo,
as well as European high-performance offerings like the Porsche 928
GT. The A80 was quicker than all three in the sprint to 60 mph,
thanks to two sequentially-powered turbos bolted to the block of
the 3.0-liter '2JZ-GTE' inline-six in the Supra Turbo. In keeping
with Toyota's efforts to out-perform the competition abroad, all
Supras exported to Europe were twin-turbocharged and boasted the
highest factory power output available, rated at 326-horsepower and
325 lb-ft of torque. Production of the Mark IV came to a close in
Japan in 2002 without a planned replacement. The surprise return of
the Supra in 2019 along with increased interest from young
collectors has pushed the collectability of unmodified, earlier
models like the A80 to new heights.
This exceptionally desirable, six-speed manual Supra Turbo is one
of just a dozen Coupe examples exported new to the Spanish market.
Originally finished in Astral Black over Ivory leather, this
example was well-ordered without the no-cost option of a 'Sport
Roof' targa top or an automatic transmission - chassis 27190 is
unique as the only Astral Black example, and the only one of the
twelve ordered without a rear spoiler (035I) for the Spanish
market. As a South European (Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg,
France, Spain, and Portugal) market example, it also benefits from
generous factory equipment and exclusive features not available in
other markets. All South European-spec Supra Turbos received a
limited slip-differential with a differential cooling system, a
hood scoop directing air onto the exhaust manifold, driver and
passenger airbags, leather seats, chip-resistant glass headlights,
and 17-inch wheels to fit larger, four-piston brakes as standard.
This Supra was registered to its original owner in Spain in April
1995, who preserved the car in pristine and unmodified condition,
accumulating only 32,157 kilometers at the time of cataloging in
his nearly three decades of ownership. As per consignor, the
vehicle was regularly serviced at official Toyota dealers.
When acquired by the selling dealer in 2022, the Supra retained its
original factory paintwork throughout, however, the notoriously
thin Toyota factory finish was beginning to show minor
imperfections in high-wear areas. In the interest of elevating the
paintwork to match the immaculate condition of the rest of the
vehicle, the decision was made to conduct a professional,
bare-metal repaint in its correct factory shade of Astral Black
with a ceramic coating in January 2023. Freshly serviced at an
official Toyota dealer and riding on new Michelin Pilot Sport 4
tires, this single-owner, unmodified Supra Turbo presents an
unrivaled opportunity to acquire a rapidly appreciating Japanese
icon.
