Vehicle Description
This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air is an absolutely gorgeous 2 door
hardtop, having benefitted from an extensive frame-off restoration.
1956 marked the second year of the Tri-Five Chevy era and when the
'56 Chevys were introduced to dealers back in November 1955, they
were clearly a major upgrade from the previous year models. With
the Bel Air sitting atop the Chevrolet hierarchy back in 1956, they
were richly appointed both inside and out. On the outside, the '56
Bel Airs sported a brand new full-width chrome grille that sat
below the new-look hood that was flatter, longer, and had an
accentuated "V" treatment. Down the beltline of the '56 Bel Air was
a brand new chrome side trim design with a painted insert that ran
essentially the full length of the car and swept down at the rear.
Of course, besides the iconic '56 side trim, perhaps the most
famous exterior update occurred with regards to the placement of
the gas filler cap which, in true 50s fashion, was hidden behind
the driver's side tail light. The interiors on the Bel Air was the
plushest interior offered by Chevrolet back in 1956 and they were
very well-optioned. More specifically, every 1956 Bel Air came with
a clock and lockable gloveboxes, both of which were considered big
of luxuries back in 1956. This particular '56 Chevy Bel Air comes
to us out of the collection of a prominent collector who clearly
was a fantastic steward of the car while under his ownership. Under
the hood on this '56 Bel Air is a 265 Cubic Inch V8 engine paired
with a single 2 barrel carburetor. Exhaust exits the 265 V8 via a
dual exhaust setup that gives this Tri-Five Chevy a nice throaty
sound. The 265 V8 is backed by a Powerglide Automatic Transmission
that makes this 1956 Chevrolet a car that can be driven and enjoyed
by anybody. In addition to the Powerglide, this 56 Bel Air comes
with a number of desirable options. With power brakes, bringing
this classic 50s Chevy to a stop is made much easier. This 1956
Chevrolet is also equipped with power steering which is another
"creature comfort" that makes driving this car much more enjoyable
and makes maneuvering it in and out of tight spaces a total breeze.
The dual chrome outside mirrors not only help you squeeze into
those aforementioned tight parking spaces, they also add to the
appearance of the car giving it a more "stepped up" look. The
exterior chrome and brightwork is in wonderful shape and show
particularly well. The exterior has been refinished in the correct
two-tone paint scheme consisting of Matador Red and Adobe Beige,
which further adds to the extraordinary curb appeal of this
Tri-Five Chevy. A set of wide whitewall bias-ply tires accented by
the painted steel wheels and full chrome wheelcovers, complete the
exterior appearance of the car. The interior on this 1956 Bel Air
is stunning! The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered
in Red Vinyl with Beige Cloth inserts accented with period correct
silver piping and buttons. The red painted dash, beige and red
upholstered door panels, headliner, and steering wheel all appear
to be in their stock configuration and have an excellent look. The
dash is equipped with a 110 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, and
fuel gauge, along with a clock and Retro-Style AM/FM/Cassette
entertainment system. Whether you're adding to your Tri-Five
collection or you're purchasing your first classic car, this 1956
Chevrolet Bel Air would make an excellent choice. Give us a call
