Previously known as a top-of-the-line trim package for the Lincoln
Continental, the Town Car became its own standalone model in 1980.
The Town Car quickly became Lincolns flagship model and was
considered the best-chauffeured vehicle due to its comfortable
spacious interior, accommodating truck space, and amazingly quiet
ride. Offering the proper balance of elegance and comfort, the
Lincoln Town Car became America's ultimate luxury sedan and one of
the largest constructed passenger vehicles ever. The Town Car has
seen 3 generations produced starting in 1980 and ending in 2011.
Only moderate changes have been made over the years and Lincoln has
continually improved and utilized the latest technology for safety
and convenience.
Lincoln's 3rd generation Town Car debuted for sale in 1998 and saw
the end of the straight-lined design that had given the Town Car
its boxy look for many years in favor of a more rounded appearance.
The suspension and steering were updated, and the Town Car now
featured a rack-and-pinion set-up which greatly improved its
handling and added to its superior ride quality. The interior was
redone with wood trim on the dashboard and door panels. Also added
for the last generation was ultrasonic park assist which included 2
rear sensors and a more fuel efficient 4.6-liter V8.
Offered here is a 2004 Lincoln Town Car Signature Sedan finished in
Pueblo Gold Metallic and a Chestnut Brown padded vinyl top with a
Stone Gray Leather interior. This Town Car features
climate-controlled front & rear air conditioning, ABS brakes, power
steering, power windows & locks, power adjustable seating, AM/FM
radio with CD and Cassette player, traction control, cruise
control, tilt steering wheel, keyless entry with a valet key,
adjustable accelerator pedal, analog clock, anti-theft system,
heated mirrors, and 17" alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Energy LX4
tires measuring 215/60R17.
Lincoln Town Cars will forever be remembered as one of Americas
most iconic luxury sedans with a history of being an executive
chauffer car. There has been no direct replacement for the Town Car
so it becomes likely these surviving V8 powered, rear-wheel-drive
examples will be collector's items in the very near future. These
