Numbers Matching 396c.i. - 4 Speed - A/C - Bucket Seats! The team
at LaFontaine Classic Cars is proud to present this beautiful 1969
Chevelle SS 396 V8 4 Speed, air conditioning, bucket seats, and so
much more!
This Super Sport features its original big-block powertrain and
retains much of its original sheet metal underneath the factory
green exterior. The car has been updated over the years including
body and paint, complete interior, drivetrain refresh, suspension,
and more.
When it was time to give this Chevelle a new, updated look, the
previous owner insisted on keeping the look as it came from the
factory. The color choice was code ""57"" Fathom Green as shown on
the trim plate. After the new color was applied and rubbed out to a
glossy finish, a set of factory style, white ""SS"" stripes were
installed to perfectly compliment the exterior while completing the
iconic appearance package of a real deal 1969 Chevelle SS 396. Upon
final assembly of the exterior, new front grill and headlight
bezels were sourced, new emblems were installed, front and rear
bumpers along with the stainless/chrome brightwork was all in great
shape and reused. Last but not least, a new OEM style vinyl top was
installed in place of the original that had faded over the
years.
Under the hood is where you will find the numbers matching 396 big
block that runs excellent. The block is stamped with the correct
vin, date code and suffix (T113JA) decoded to November 13. 1968
with the ""JA"" referring to the factory installed 325hp 396ci
wearing the correct GM accessories with an upgraded aluminum intake
manifold, Holley 650cfm 4-barrel carburetor, and a set of ceramic
coated headers.
Behind the 396 big-block is a numbers matching Muncie 4-speed
transmission providing silky smooth shifts, no leaks, and no noises
- a great sign that this unit has been gone through and is ready to
drive. The rear axle is the factory 12 bolt that has the correct
date code with gear ratio code stamped on the axle tube provided by
GM. The code reads CF1114B which breaks down to ""CF"" which
designates a 3.31 gear ratio with a posi-traction differential
built on ""1114"" or November 14th, and ""B"" meaning the axle was
assembled in Buffalo, NY. The 12 bolt was standard on all Super
Sport Chevelles from 1965 to 1972 because of its ability to hold up
during extreme driving conditions.
Looking inside the cockpit reveals a like new interior that was
converted from the factory green to all black. This conversion
required basically every component to be replaced or recovered
including new seat covers front and rear, headliner and carpet,
door and trim panels, along with the entire dashboard. Sitting in
the driver's seat provides a great view of the domed hood with
easy-to-read gauges mounted neatly in the dash as Chevrolet
designed. On your right side is the factory center console
surrounding an easy to reach Hurst 4-speed shifter with the classic
white shifter ball that fits almost any hand. Some additional
features on the car include power steering and power brakes, a
custom installed Vintage Air A/C system that is ready for the
summer heat, new BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, and a dual exhaust
system featuring Flowmaster mufflers for a classic ""muscle""
sound.
Here is a great opportunity to own one of Chevrolet's most iconic
muscle cars - the '69 Chevelle SS is a classic that is recognized
wherever it goes. Call the team at LaFontaine Classic Cars for more
