Vehicle Description
MKII SPS0034 is one of the most beautiful Superformance Street 289
roadsters in the world. From the heritage wire wheels to the
burbling Ford V8, this car has the classic cues you want in a
British roadster with the reliable power you expect from an
American powertrain.
SPS0034 was custom ordered clad in Grigio Silverstone two stage
paint with extra clearcoat; a clear bra was fitted to nose and
fenders to protect the beautiful finish, along with the fender
spats and underbody rockers. In like new condition, the roadster
has Bullet style mirrors and authentic rear exit undercar exhaust
with ceramic coated headers to maintain the sleek original style
appearance. It even wears genuine 2-lug knock offs splined 15" X 6"
Dayton chrome wire wheels with 205/70/R15 tires front and rear; a
matching spare is in the trunk.
Original style Sun visors, polished stainless-steel bumpers front
and rear, wind wings and fender side vents help create the picture
of 1960s sophistication. Options include a tonneau cover, top, side
curtains and a stainless-steel gas tank.
The Ford 347 cid "stroker" motor makes a healthy 410 horsepower and
418 ft. lbs. of torque. The engine is kept cool by the Harrison
expansion tank and HD Aluminum radiator with thermostatic
controlled HD electric fan; a manual override is located on dash.
The small block V8 connects to a 5-speed transmission with a
hydraulic clutch that sends all the power to a ZF limited-slip IRS
differential housing the 3.52:1 final ratio gears.
This Superformance MK II Street 289 stays true to the original John
Tojeiro designed chassis with its 3" tubular rail ladder style main
tubes and welded crossmembers. The rack & pinion steering helps
keep the car pointed faithfully while the fully adjustable front
and rear transverse leaf spring style suspension manages bumps in
the road. Ross Henry designed and engineered several upgrades for
Superformance that were incorporated into the car. These include
Heim joints fitted to the lower control arms, adjustable shocks
front and rear, along with front and rear sway bars to sharpen the
MKII's handling. Stopping power is impressive due to the car's
power disc 4 piston Wilwood Brakes with double master
cylinders.
SPS0034 has a classic Moto-Lita hardwood-rimmed steering wheel,
along with period correct Stewart Warner gauges. Tan leather was
fitted throughout the interior including the seats (on sliders).
The convertible has an original style grab handle, heater/defroster
controls and fresh air vents. A side-screen pocket is located
behind the seats and the Superformance car has both door and map
pockets.
The Superformance MK II Street 289 is a meticulously engineered and
crafted reproduction of the original, built under license from
Carroll Shelby Licensing Inc. No expense was spared in recreating
the legendary cars, ensuring an authentic sports car
experience.
SPS0034 is titled and registered as a 2109 Superformance in South
Carolina. With 500 unoriginal miles on the odometer and under 4,000
miles total SPS0034 is available for $134,950.
