With correct colors inside and out, and the numbers-matching V8
under the hood, this 1978 Chevrolet Corvette is quite an attractive
idea. As you dig deeper, you'll also find nice extras, like a
four-speed, low mileage, and a desirable two-owner history.
This coupe is a bit of a family affair. It has a two-owner history
with an uncle and nephew. This known history is why it's believed
(but unconfirmed) that the odometer reflects the full mileage. We
like the look of the factory-correct silver paint. It's a timeless
hue that fits in today considering a similar color is in style on
many current Mercedes and Audi vehicles. And there was a later
respray to make sure it continues to showcase the clean lines of
the new style that debuted in 1974. Plus, the long cowl hood,
well-integrated bumpers, and optional alloy wheels really give this
a sporty style.
The red interior is a great complementing color to the exterior
silver, and it's so vibrant that this car almost glows from within
when the T-tops are out. When you see the condition of the bucket
seats, push carpeting, and smooth dash, you understand that this
coupe was driven with care. There are also desirable factory
features, like the AM/FM stereo, tilt steering column, and
provisions for air conditioning (it will need servicing to blow
cold again.) And we love the rarely-seen manual transmission. It
puts you in the center of the action as your shifts directly are
related to the dancing of the dials and the tune from the V8.
In a car that's been this authentic so far, it's great to see the
numbers-matching 350 cubic-inch V8 under the hood. It has quite an
honest appearance, and the way it fires up and runs tells you this
family car has seen the right care. The hardy small block fires up
on command, and its four-barrel carburetor setup delivers a throaty
exhaust note. It has a great throttle response, and you get
complete control over this V8 with the four-speed manual
transmission. Add in great driving features like power steering,
four-wheel power disc brakes, and a fully independent sports
suspension, and this is truly an irresistible machine.
This two-owner family-style C2 even comes with the dealer invoice.
This is far more classic car than the affordable price suggests,
