5.0L Coyote-Powered 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger Explorer 44
5-Speed!
This 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger was acquired by the family of its
original owner, and it has since been fitted with a Coyote
5.0-liter V8 and a ZF five-speed manual transmission paired with a
dual-range transfer case sending power to 2 or all 4 wheels!
The burgundy-and-yellow body was removed from the frame for
installation of the powertrain and to refinish the chassis.
Additional features include aftermarket 15? wheels with 3110.50?
BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2, power-assisted four-wheel disc
brakes, tinted glass, a bed cover, a reupholstered bench seat,
replacement carpeting, a RetroSound stereo, and two 8? subwoofers.
When the body was removed from the frame to refurbish the chassis,
a Battle born F-350 brake booster and master cylinder kit were
installed along with Thunderbird front brake calipers and a rear
disc-brake conversion kit.
The Explorer-trim bench seat has been reupholstered in red with
patterned multicolor cloth inserts, and the red carpeting was
replaced. A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of an 85-mph
speedometer surrounded by four auxiliary gauges, and a tachometer
has been added to the column. The five-digit odometer shows 88k
miles, approximately 3k of which have been added since the coyote
drivetrain!
The fuel-injected Coyote 5.0-liter V8 was sourced from a 2011 F-150
and received Mustang-specification camshafts and exhaust headers as
well as replacement timing chains and and oil pump and gear before
being installed.
