For Sale: 1980 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ in Kingston, Washington

Vehicle Description

This four-wheel-drive 1980 Toyota FJ40 has been upgraded with Old Man Emu suspension components, a Smittybilt winch, auxiliary lighting, and 31-inch BFGoodrich tires. It is powered by a rebuilt 2F 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Finished in red with a white roof over a charcoal vinyl interior, this FJ40 is now offered with an original set of steel wheels with hubcaps and a clear title.

The red exterior features a white grille frame and roof along with diamond-plate panels on the rear panels. The reportedly solid body is also equipped with auxiliary lighting, a Smittybilt winch, dual side mirrors, barn door-style rear doors, and a spare tire on a swing-away carrier.

Polished aluminum 15-inch wheels are wrapped in 31-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A raised-white-letter tires; a matching full-size spare is mounted at the rear.

The interior is fitted with charcoal vinyl front bucket seats, which are split by a custom center console. Features include an aftermarket radio, lap belts, a passenger grab handle, a heater, rubber floor mats, a fire extinguisher, and inboard-facing jump seats in the rear cargo area. The seller notes that there is evidence of repair in the front footwell area.

Instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer and accompanying gauges for the oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 75,015 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown. The oil pressure and amp gauges are erratic or non-operational.

The 2F 4.2-liter inline-six was reportedly rebuilt under prior ownership and features an Offenhauser intake manifold and a four-barrel carburetor conversion. Recent maintenance includes a tune-up, as well as the replacement of the battery, hoses, and fluids. Power is fed to all four wheels via a floor-shifted four-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and manually locking front hubs.

The suspension uses lift, spring, and shock components from Old Man Emu. The seller notes that there is some surface rust on the underbody.

Five original steel wheels with hubcaps come with the vehicle.
