This custom 1931 Ford Roadster was born in the Ford factory and
stayed original until 2017, when it was purchased by the current
owner and turned into this very special hot rod. This roadster has
gone through a meticulous and professional nut-and-bolt, body-off
restoration. It is powered by a Ford Racing aluminum big-block
460ci crate engine rated at 575hp with aluminum heads and Holley
750dp carburetor, which sits between new 1932 frame rails. To keep
the engine cool, only the top is covered by the hood, and up front
is a 1932 grille with a 2-inch chopped radiator and electric
cooling fan. The Lokar shifter is connected to a rebuilt 4-speed
AOD automatic transmission, with stopping handled by 4-wheel disc
brakes. The front suspension consists of a 4-inch I-beam dropped
axle and a transverse spring with a hairpin front end and 1937 Ford
round spindles. The rear consists of an early Ford 9-inch with
posi-traction and transverse spring with ladder bars. The steering
is controlled by a 1968 Dodge manual steering box mounted for cowl
steering. The exterior lighting is 1939 Ford rear taillights with a
Westerguard-style license plate box with lights and lens and
vintage arrow headlights. All rolling on 15x6-inch painted-to-match
steel wheels with American Classic Radial 560-15 and 820-15 tires.
The interior, done by Martinez Industries Company, features the
3-inch tuck-and-roll upholstery with Porsche square-weave carpet
and floor mats to match with 1932 Ford interior door handles and
bear-claw latches. The custom dash boasts Dakota Digital gauges.
The handmade windshield frame and custom glass help support the
Martinez Industries handmade padded top with Porsche headliner
fabric and brown Stayfast convertible top material.
