This 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS was one of a group of cars ordered by
the Department of Defense (DOD) and the U.S. Air Force from Carter
Chevrolet in Oklahoma. It was tasked as a chase car to assist with
take offs and landings of the U-2 spy planes. This example was
based at Beale AFB in Northern California. The car is equipped with
an LED lightbar, along with dual high-frequency radios and antennas
that have been rendered non-functional. Upon arrival, this car was
modified by the U.S. Air Force's 9th Reconnaissance Wing. The Air
Force does not sell surplus chase cars to the public. It has its
original government plates retained by the DOD, and replica plates
come with the car.
