Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars San Antonio/Austin is thrilled to offer this
absolutely beautiful 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe! This '32 is a
high-end show winner anywhere it goes & was hand-built by the Texas
custom hot rod legend Eddie Baumann. You may know of Eddie from his
builds featured at SEMA or the Good Guys events, or possibly may
have read about him in Motor Trend or SpeedHunters, and that he
builds the highest quality customs around. This one is no
exception! It started off with a Harwood all-glass body sitting
atop a 4" stretched, custom fabricated, boxed-rail chassis that was
pinched in the front & has a 2" kick up at the firewall and is "C
notched" in the rear. The Harwood grill shell was also chopped & is
housing the Dan Fink grill under the Rootlieb hood with custom
hinges and super cool looking engine skirt side vents. The front
suspension is done up right with a Heidt's open wheel "Superide"
Independent front suspension set up & RideTech coil overs, Borgeson
aluminum steering joints and shafts (with vibration dampener) and
also has a billet aluminum rack & pinion steering system. Ever
piece of this build is of the highest quality & it most certainly
shows! The Currie 9" Ford PosiTrak rear end is turning a 3.73
gearing into Currie 31 spline forged axles and is completed with a
Strange aluminum read-end center, custom built Panard bar & ladder
bars and a set of RideTech rear shocks. Wilwood drilled & slotted,
CAD-plated front rotors, aluminum front hubs, Wilwood slotted
rears, Wilwood master cylinder and stainless lines with a custom
reservoir. This is all sitting on a set up on a retro-looking set
of 15" Billet Specialties "Legacy" aluminum alloy wheels with
knock-off style caps, a newer set of 195/60/15 rubber up front and
some meaty 255/70/15's out back. I think you are starting to get
the picture of just how top quality this build really is. It truly
is a rolling piece of art!Now we get to the heart of this '32...
the engine! The power to this bad boy is compliments of a nasty,
all aluminum 540 CID Merlin big block with a 4.5" bore, a Crower
4340 forged steel crank (4.25 stroke), Crower Sportsman bushed
steel rods & chamfered bearings, J&E domed pistons, J&E
pins, Spiro locks, a Comp hydraulic roller cam (.566 valve lift)
and a set of Comp 3/8" push rods, guide plates & studs. All this is
under a gigantic set of Brodix WP BB2 (CNC-ported) aluminum heads
(1.88" exhaust, 2.25" intake), custom built & color-matched valve
covers and a Comp BBC F1 intake manifold, "Rewarder" ceramic-coated
headers with heat shields and a custom steel exhaust that was TIG
welded & HPC ceramic coated running the engine note through a
Flowmaster exhaust system. Once again, this is a "no expense
spared" build! Some of the other items are a Comp 1100CFM throttle
body, a Fast in-tank fuel pump, Fast wiring harness with an EZ Tune
ECU module, an MSD billet aluminum distributor, MSD coil and a set
of MSD 8.5mm wires. The custom-built aluminum radiator was sourced
to Jackie Howerton out of Indianapolis, along with the auxiliary
radiator & fan located in the rear. All this 700+ hp is run through
a custom built 700-R4 automatic with a 2500 stall, a B&M trans
cooler with a temperature switch, Spal fan & a custom pan that was
assembled by Hughes Performance out of Phoenix, AZ. This is
controlled in the cabin through a floor mounted Lokar shifter with
a modified gate & lock out. The interior finishings are also thing
of beauty, keeping with the overall eye to detail and were hand
crafted by upholstery guru Gabe Lopez. The saddle colored, premium
leather interior, door panels, German square-weave carpets &
headliner took 100's of hours of handcrafted detailing to complete
and are very nicely accompanied by the billet door handles & safety
locks, pedal assemblies, steering column, the Lokar shifter,
Vintage Air, AutoMeter gauges, a 140 watt "Secret Audio" AM/FM/CD
controller with RF remote that are powering the sound through some
Alpine SPS-460A coaxial speakers and a Budnik billet aluminum
steering wheel completed with color matched leather. In the trunk,
you will find a custom fuel cell, color-matched aluminum battery
box housing the Optima battery, and even more of the German
square-weave carpet! Also nicely tucked away in the rear are the
cross bars & mounts for the very nicely tucked roll bar.It is not
very often that a tastefully done build of the highest quality such
as this comes to market, but when they do, they are a true pleasure
to experience. If you are used to the finer things in life & are
looking to add another jewel to the collection, you owe it to
yourself to consider this '32 Coupe!
