Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is very excited to offer this 1970 Chevrolet
Chevelle SS for your consideration. This absolutely beautiful
Chevelle is the recipient of a meticulous restoration that left
virtually no part of the vehicle untouched. The selling owner
purchased the vehicle from the second owner in a mostly
disassembled state but with the numbers matching motor,
transmission, and rear end. This example is powered by its original
396ci V8 motor that has been bored out 30 over. The crank was
ground along with the connection rods and new pistons were
installed. Additionally, the engine features a Comp cam, PRW roller
rockers, and an Edelbrock Torker II aluminum intake. The motor is
fed fuel through a Holley Sniper EFI system with a new gas tank and
new fuel pump. Other features of the drivetrain set up is an XS
high torque starter, MSD billeted electronic distributor, and the
twin fan radiator by Engineered Cooling Products. American racing
long tube headers with 3-inch stainless header back exhaust with
x-pipe and stainless exhaust tips make for a wonderful sounding
vehicle. Routing power to the rear wheels is the original M-20
Muncie transmission that received a full rebuild with the addition
of a Hurst Competition shifter. The original driveshaft was
replaced with a 3-inch aluminum shaft from Automotive Supply
Company. The selling owner notes that the original 12-bolt main
differential and axles were rebuilt and then powder coated.
Needless to say, the motor is ready to rock and roll with
everything being done to a very high quality standard.
Externally this Chevelle SS stands out from the rest. The body
color was changed to the PPG color of Navy Pearl and the white
stripes are finished in the PPG color of White Pearl Crystal White.
The suspension system is by BMR and is a full level 2 performance
package. Providing stopping power are Baer Track 4 brakes with Baer
master and proportion valve. ARP fasteners were used throughout the
build with custom machined washers. Moving to body work, the inner
fenders were opened to display the new tubular suspension and sway
bars. Heater and fan openings were shaved out of the firewall.
Wheel openings were opened up in the front and rear by 1.5-inches
and flares were constructed from sheet metal and welded into place.
All of the side marker lamps were shaved to highlight the natural
beauty of these Chevelle's body lines. Additionally, the doors
locks and handles were shaved and reach-in push button door openers
were added to the rear of each door. Making for a more aggressive
stance, the rockers and quarter panels were extended 2.75-inches
lower and mounted using a blind bolts. The rear bumper was
sectioned and gapped into the quarter panels. As for the front
bumper, it was also sectioned and brought into the fenders as well
as the license plate opening removed and infilled. All mounting
bolts were replaced with studs for a cleaner appearance. Under the
bumper is the front splitter that was slightly modified to fit this
specific example. An awesome feature of this Chevelle is the
"Shayvelle" badges which is what the selling owner dubbed this
beautiful build. One final note about the exterior of this great
build is that the vehicle rides on 18-inch Foose wheels wrapped in
Nitto NT555 tires.
While there were clearly countless hours spent perfecting the
exterior of this Chevelle, there was an equal amount of attention
to detail when it came to finishing the interior. Starting off the
list of highlights/features is noting that the entire interior was
soundproofed with Dynamat sound deadener. The front seats are
Recaro Specialist seats that have been recovered in Italian leather
to match the headliner and custom rear bucket seats. A modified
dashboard was fitted following the removal of the radio and
cigarette lighter openings. Speakers throughout are from JL Audio
and are controlled by the Kenwood stereo that is mounted in the
center console. The Eddie Motorsport aluminum sills have the custom
"Shayvelle" logo engraved. A final two highlights of this sweet car
is a Ididit steering column with push button start and headlight
dimmer mounted to the steering column. And to conclude the list of
the fantastic features of the "Shayvelle" is the Vintage Air Gen-IV
air conditioning system that was raised under the dash to make for
a cleaner look.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or for
additional information. This is a numbers matching example that has
well over $100,000 invested into the build. Now is your chance to
take home this unique, stunning, and all around fantastic
vehicle.
