Cruisin Classics is proud to present this 1989 Ford Mustang GT
convertible for your consideration. Right away, you'll see that
this is not your average 80's Fox-body. The first things that catch
your attention are the Cervini twin turbo fiberglass hood with pins
and the Saleen rear wing - great aftermarket additions that really
set the tone for this modified pony. The red paint has a nice shine
and is accented by black, grey, and silver Saleen graphics on the
sides. The black convertible top is in excellent condition and the
rear window glass is clear and crack-free. Along the bottom of the
car is aerodynamic lower body-side skirting with GT badging and fog
lights below the bumper in front. This Mustang sits atop Weld
Draglite Racing wheels with Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials on
the rear and Classic all-season radials up front. Next, let's talk
about all of the exciting things going on under that cool hood. For
1989 the Mustang's speed density computer system was replaced with
a mass air system. This change slightly reduced factory horsepower,
but made Mustangs much easier to modify. With the Mass air system,
changes made to the intake, engine and exhaust system would be
recognized and compensated for by the ECU, resulting in a correct
air/fuel ratio and optimum power. During the 90's, a previous owner
took full advantage of this factor and added quite a few awesome
performance upgrades to the 302 V-8. The most notable of the
changes is a Series 2200 Kenne-Bell Whipple-Charger and a
compressor bypass valve - allowing for more boost sooner with less
input and lower temperatures. The car was taken to Dynotech in
Oakwood, Ohio and had a performance chip custom made to improve the
idle and add more torque. According to an article written
specifically about this car in "Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords"
magazine in December of 97, the car made 414 hp at 5,600 rpm and
489 lbs.-ft of torque at just 3,000 rpm with only 12 psi of boost!
While under the hood you'll also find TFS aluminum heads and chrome
valve covers. Exhaust runs through headers to dual mufflers with no
tailpipes for a great agressive sound. The 302 engine is mated to
what we believe is the original 4-speed AOD transmission with 3:55
rear gears. The previous owner has told us that the transmission
was rebuilt 2 years ago. Inside this Mustang is a nice quality grey
interior with an assortment of creature-comforts. The grey vinyl
bucket seats are comfortable and in good condition, save for some
wear on the driver's side bolster. The steering wheel features
cruise-control, tilt wheel, intermittent wipers, and is backed up
by power steering. The driver's door has controls for power
windows, locks, and mirrors. The center console has an armrest and
the shift lever. On the dash are the HVAC controls that offer nice
cold A/C and hot heat, a stock AM/FM/Cassette stereo, add-on boost
and fuel pressure gauges, a shift light, and controls for the
working power convertible top. There is a MSD ignition box affixed
to the center tunnel on the passenger side and nice grey carpet
throughout. Around back in the clean, carpeted trunk you'll find a
set of grey floormats and a grey boot cover for the convertible
top. If you're looking for a cool fox-body that serves as an
around-town cruiser as well as a weekend warrior at the local track
then look no further - this is it! Put the pedal down and feel the
smile light up your face!
