Vehicle Description
1923 Ford T-Bucket Pickup
Few cars are as basic, as elemental, as the Model T. Henry Ford's
horseless carriage for the masses was never meant to be fancy or
flashy, just fundamental and functional. The same holds true for
Model T-based hot rods-they seem to work best as stripped-down,
bare-bones speed machines. To lavish such cars with conveniences
like air conditioning, power steering, and cruise control is to go
against their very nature. Thx to Damon Lee Hot Rod Mag.
For consignment, Norm Grabowski would be proud of this creation
from a 1923 Ford T Bucket pickup. An open engine compartment,
wonderful 1923 design for the convertible top, and a truck bed to
boot. Side pipes and some tasteful chroming in just the right spots
in just the right amount, and we have a showpiece right here in our
Hallowed Halls. Grab on to your leather jacket, and comb in a DA on
the back of your head, we are goin' for a wild ride in this "T"
bucket
Note: This vehicle is sold with a Pennsylvania Special Construction
Title and does NOT have a model year on the title. Please research
with your local DMV for proper titling procedures in your country,
state, province, or territory.*
Exterior
As stripped down hot rods go this one fits that bill to a T. A
fiberglass tub sans fenders, a basic convertible top, bed tonneau
cover, wood door sill panels and no bumpers. It's all looking great
with its dark blue paint and black accenting for the headlight
casings, front glass frame, and exposed radiator and suspension.
The blacked out radiator and surround sits on its own upfront and
sports a tall chrome radiator cap. Next is the open mill and
polished stainless cowl, the bucket and blue painted bedsides. On
the way we noticed a like new convertible top in black vinyl and a
gray tonneau cover for the bed. This fiberglass bed holds the fuel
cell which has some service notations written on the left side. On
the back are blue dot teardroptaillights on either side and rolled
steel bed edge tops. 15-inch polished Weld Draglite wheels are out
there for the whole world to see and 205/60R15's in front and
massive 33x12.50R15LT's are on out back.
Interior
Inside a nearly vertical steering column is topped with a small
black rimmed 3 spoke rally wheel which fronts a wonderful dark blue
painted dash. This dash has a horizontal lineup of gold bezel round
VDO gauges, large and small, and these flow out from the center of
the dash. In the center of the floor is a Lokar shifter with a
chrome mounting ring around the black leather boot which sits right
in front of a wrap around heavily padded gray tuck and roll
stitched vinyl bench stretching from door to door. These doors are
also covered in gray tuck and roll vinyl as are all the side
panels. The floors also have black carpeting, all looking good.
Drivetrain
A blingy and essentially stock, this 302ci V8 is topped with a new
QuickFuel4bbl carb and the whole works is out there for the world
to gaze at. On the back a C4 3-speed automatic throwing power to a
Ford 9-inch rear axle. Shiny headers snake together to form a
single side pipe for each side. Yellow ignition wiring is all over
this engine, as are chrome dress ups, polished valve covers and a
"bird catcher" style air scoop. I'm glad this mill is NOT
covered!
Undercarriage
Good solid framing supports transverse leaf springs and disc brakes
in front, and 4 link with coil springs and drum braking in back.
All clean and black steel for the framing and suspension.
Drive-Ability
She fired right up and did well on our test track. I left the top
up for my drive but still enjoyed the open air thanks to the huge
exposed sides. All was well working beautifully and looking very T
bucket pickup like! Eat your heart out Norm Grabowski.
What's the matter with the car I'm driving? "Can't you tell that
it's out of style?"
Should I get a set of white wall tires? "Are you gonna cruise the
miracle mile?
Nowadays you can't be too sentimental. Your best bet's a great
T-Bucket."
Hot funk, cool punk, even if it's old junk It's still rock and roll
