Vehicle Description
The 1974 Chevrolet Corvette was the last year for big block power,
and so it's quite nice to find one with a number-matching 454 under
the hood. Plus, with a nice classic style and long-term ownership,
it makes for quite a desirable classic.
This coupe represents the right idea of a great driver's classic.
It's been under the same owner's care for nearly 30 years, and it's
said that there were only two owners before her. Even the low
odometer is believed to reflect the full mileage. It sets the tone
for a car that has been responsibly enjoyed for its life thus far.
That means taking the time to update areas that rarely last half a
century, like the rubber bumpers and the paintwork. It's about
being attractive without being perfect. That makes for the kind of
Corvette that's nice to have in your garage but even nicer to hit
the road on a whim.
The black interior appears highly original. Just like the exterior,
you can tell this has been enjoyed with care. Even the leather
seats continue to feel nice and complete. You may restore the air
conditioning or update the stereo to create the ultimate weekend
cruiser, but the fundamentals that make this a terrific driver's
car are there from day one. The high-back bucket seat, grippy
sports steering wheel, full auxiliary readouts, and a large speedo
and tach dominating your view are all part of a proper enthusiast's
experience. Plus, nothing beats the feeling of opening up the
T-tops and letting the wind flow through the car as you hear the
big block rumble.
The heart of this Stingray's appeal is that it was the last one to
get the extra large heart. The 454 cubic-inch is the
numbers-matching unit for the final year of the big block Corvette.
And because regulations at the time didn't make this quite as
mighty as its predecessors, this one has been upgraded with a mild
cam and lifter set to restore the proper glory (it also makes it a
fun car to tune on the weekends.) Part of long-term ownership means
the right investments. This includes a double-row timing chain, an
MSD ignition, a re-cored radiator, and an updated 2.5-inch dual
exhaust. The TH400 three-speed transmission was even rebuilt. It
makes for a total package that warms up to be a stout torque-filled
Stingray. Add in power steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, and
the C3's fully independent suspension, and you have a powerful but
easy cruiser.
Complete with the owner's manual, this is the last of the big
blocks presented with good care and a driver-ready style. You may
decide to give it a polish, update the tires, or other details that
give it your personal driver's touch, but there's already something
irresistible about a legend presented so that you can enjoy it to
the fullest. Call today!!!
