Vehicle Description
1988 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup
There is much debate as to exactly why the truck is called the S10,
and the answer, at least the one I'm going with because it comes
from Chevrolet brass, is that all the S designation in them means
small cab, the 10 is because of the 10 foot bed? I'm sure there is
another answer out there, and once this truck hits ebay, all the
"experts" will be chiming in, as e-bay seems to have an
overabundance of these! (sic)
Three owners, 2 of which from the same family, have owned this low
original 46,669 title verified mileage Tahoe edition with two tone
paint, a toolbox on the bed ling with a tonneau covering. A fine
running truck. Cosmetically it is not perfect, but with the low
miles and smooth running engine, it has a long life ahead for
someone out there.
Exterior
This two tone S10 Tahoe in tan and green shows nicely. The paint
has a few dents and dings and slight chip offs, but overall is
good. The roof is slightly faded and on the bed is a black painted
diamond plate tool chest, and just aft of this is a tonneau
covering with aluminum ribs which are curved to add a bit more
space under it. The bed underneath is lined with a black spray in
liner, showing minimal wear. The trimmings are solid and shiny,
and14-inch snowflake style wheels are standard issue from GM
wrapped in 205/75R14 rubber from 1997. Overall gaps are nicely
minded, and paint is shiny as well as delineating trimmings between
the two tones.
Interior
Camel is the interior color and it's all over the interior in
various shades of light and dark. Door panels are in nice clean
condition, utilizing some tuck and riot broadcloth, molded plastic
and carpeting below. A bench seat has tuck and roll square "tweed"
broadcloth with shiny vinyl bolsters showing in a pumpkin color,
slightly darker than the inserts. A darker tan dash mixes with
black panels and houses all the controls needed to operate and
monitor this truck. Gauges are in a central display which rolls up
and down in lieu of pointers. Square and rectangle panels are all
nice and clean and show little to no wear. Tan clean carpeting is
installed below, and above is a fuzzy broad cloth tan
headliner.
Drivetrain
Underneath the hood is looking like new, all highly detailed and
very clean. We see a 2.8 liter V6 with EFI, shoehorned into the
clean surrounding bay. On the back a 700R4 4-speed automatic
transmission is on, and a 10 bolt rear spins the back wheels. A new
alternator and battery are now in.
Undercarriage
Some surface rust is seen coating suspension and shows slightly on
the frame. Floor pans and rockers are all black and structurally
sound. Independent coil spring suspension is in front, and leaf
springs are on back. Power disc braking is upfront, and power drums
are on the back.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter and very smooth idle from this V6. It drives great
and handles nicely with good solid power braking, and easy power
steering. The AC blows cold as it has been renewed, and most of the
airflow comes from the floor, but still chilled the interior
nicely.
2 owners then our consigner makes it 3, who buttoned up this low
mileage truck. A new tonneau after removing the original bed cap,
and the tool box is a real plus for the working owner. All in nice
clean condition, not perfect, but perfectly suited to the person
who will buy it.
