Vehicle Description
1942 Ford 1 Ton Flatbed
Before the boom of the F-Series trucks in 1948, Ford and all
automakers for that matter had an interesting decade. With the
arrival of WWII all civilian automobile manufacturing halted in
order to reserve vehicles and important commodities for the war
effort. In 1942 the production of pickups stopped on March 3rd
making all 1942's pretty unique. Production continued for the
military but only special essential civilian users had access to
dealer held vehicles throughout the following few years. This cool
1942 Ford is the larger 1 ton model and is a flatbed. Looking it
over you can tell this thing was designed to be a reliable hard
worker back in the day. Days as a commercial truck on the farm are
now behind it but that certainly doesn't mean it couldn't still be
used that way if you desired. It has since been gone through and
redone making it a unique show truck that would be ideal for things
like parades, hay rides and car shows. The body is painted in a
nice Bright Red paired with Black fenders. The bumpers and trim are
also painted Black to tie it all together. It has wide adjustable
side mirrors along with a back up camera at the rear view mirror.
The glass is all good and it has a two piece front windshield. The
custom made rear bed with wood stake sides looks great and has a
tool box with plenty of storage space underneath. The rear bumper
was set up to help give you easy access to the bed and has custom
"Ford Truck" lettering in red and a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver.
All of the lights are working properly including the roof and
fender mounted lights. It has brand new 16" wheels with a dually
set up in back. The tires are new and along with the wheels have
under 500 miles on them.
Mechanically the truck has been totally gone through and set up to
comfortably cruise down the freeway at 65-70 mph easily. It may
have a vintage exterior but mechanically it has all been freshened
up to make it a comfortable driver. In now has a new 260hp 350V8 GM
crate motor with less than 300 miles on it. It has a chrome air
cleaner, nice finned valve covers and runs strong. It has zero
cooling issues with a 3 row heavy duty aluminum radiator and
electric fan. The transmission is a Turbo 400 automatic that has
under 500 miles since it was rebuilt. During the restoration the
old chassis was replaced with a stronger duty 1 ton 1977 GM
chassis. The brakes are all fresh with a new master cylinder, brake
booster and brake lines. The fronts have been converted to discs
and in addition to power brakes it was upgraded with power steering
as well. The truck has been completely rewired with an EZ wiring 21
circuit harness to eliminate any electrical concerns.
The interior is all brand new and the cab received a layer of
Dynamat prior to installation. The Black carpet, upholstery, and
headliner all look great. It has a bench seat with Black 3 point
belts for added safety. Through the floor is a tall Lokar shifter
and Lokar emergency brake level. The dash is painted Red with
stainless steel trim along the center. On that custom trim piece
are the Black VDO electric programmable gauges, Vintage AC/Heat
Defrost controls, and a Sony AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo. In front of
the driver sits a reproduction 1940 Ford steering wheel on a
polished tilt column. Other nice features include the billet
pedals, custom made cup holders and an additional storage
compartment hidden under the seat.
It is clear this unique pickup has had much more invested than our
asking price. It comes with all receipts from the build and is sure
to get attention wherever it goes. If you want to stand out from
the crowd at car shows we can guarantee there won't be another one
there quite like this.
This cool 1 ton could be yours for only $21,000.00!
