The 'Super 88' was the top-of-the-line Oldsmobile in 1952. This
Olds Super 88 2-door sedan was the recipient of a full restoration
in 1990 and is a rare example of this classic. The solid exterior
was restored in original 2-tone Green/Cream. The Canto Cream finish
of the top is very good, but the Palm Green on the body has
developed tiny 'spider webs' on some surfaces. If the Show Trophy
is your goal, the Green finish will need to be addressed. That
said, all of the chrome is in very good condition and accents
include a stunning hood ornament, classic '50s chrome grill and 15"
factory wheels w/trim rings/center caps. There is also a full
windshield sun visor and manually operated driver spotlight. The
restored cloth/vinyl interior shows very well. Upholstery, door
cards and headliner are all in good condition. The stunning dash
holds the original AM radio, but it needs TLC. There is also a full
set of working factory gauges w/dash compass and the steering wheel
is just plain beautiful.
The Olds is powered by a 303ci OHV 'Rocket 88' V8 that has been
totally rebuilt and sounds strong. Factory output of the 'Rocket'
with a 4-barrel carburetor was rated at 160hp in 1952. The engine
has received a recent full service including carb rebuild, electric
fuel pump, breakerless ignition system and plugs. Power is
transferred by a 4-speed Hydra-Matic transmission to a stock rear
differential and new u-joints have been installed in the
driveshaft. The suspension is all factory design except for the
addition of rear air shocks. The Olds rides on a set of Coker
white-white bias ply tires. The hydraulic drum brake system was
rebuilt (2020) including the master cylinder, wheel cylinders and
brake lines. This Super 88 is ready for a new owner who will
appreciate this beautiful, classic Oldsmobile. ALL VEHICLES SOLD
"AS IS".
