Vehicle Description
1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D with full WVO system This is a rare and
unique offer for the right person: A 5-cylinder turbodiesel
Mercedes in very good mechanical condition, fully converted with a
two-tank system to run on waste vegetable oil (WVO) as well as
diesel, that will come with the entire vegetable oil collection,
storage and supply system. This system has been in successful
operation for over ten years. First, the car: This 1984 300D is low
mileage at 242,000 miles on the odometer, given that the car is
nearly 40 years old. This has been my personal vehicle since 2011,
and has remained an extremely reliable car. It starts and runs
well, with a strong engine that does not use oil between regular
oil and filter changes. It'll still get up over 100 mph, and feels
very solid at that speed. Transmission, suspension, brakes,
steering, and other mechanical systems all work well. The car rides
and handles well, especially on rough roads. The A/C has been
converted to modern R134 and works, although not as cold as the
original (and now banned) R12. Tires are a matched set of four
Yokohama Ascend GTs with around 9,000 miles on the set. Rims are
Ronal R9s, and are highly sought after period-correct vintage
wheels for this car. It also has a modern Alpine bluetooth CD
player/radio with aftermarket speakers front and rear. The body is
clean, and with the alloy rims regularly brings compliments when I
drive it. The car is by no means perfect, however. It could use
reproduction seat covers in the front, especially the driver's
seat. The sunroof and cruise control no longer work, and the left
rear window doesn't either. It leaks a bit of oil and transmission
fluid, not surprising for its age. It wants an owner who
appreciates a solid and well-built old car, understands that such a
car needs an owner who pays attention and fixes small issues before
they become big issues, and wants to continue driving on used
sopaipilla and chile relleno restaurant cooking oil.
