Here is a real treat! This beautiful automobile is a genuine Ford Fairlane - Crown Victoria edition from 1955. This was the first year for both the Fairlane model and the top-of-the-line Crown Victoria trim package which only lasted like this for two years. While we’ve had a few of these over the years, none of them compare to this gorgeous example.
This impressive vehicle underwent a full restoration completed in 2003. The resulting car is not only a pleasure to look at but is also a delight to drive. The clean, rust-free underside is a testament to a lifetime in the south for this Dallas-built car. While many Crown Victorias wear a two-tone paint scheme, this one is a monotone Snowshoe White. It not only gives a more luxurious appearance but also shows off all that beautiful trim! Everything is straight and shiny, making a great demonstration of what a Crown Victoria is all about. The wide whitewall Goodyear tires are radials with a bias ply look. Note the nice hub caps and trim rings too.
This Ford is an original M-code car which signifies the optional 272ci “Power Pack” engine. This top-of-the-line setup delivered higher compression (8.5:1), a 4-barrel Holley “Teapot” carburetor, and a full dual exhaust. It was only available with the Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission which is followed by a 3.30 rear end. This Crown Victoria features both factory power steering and power brakes and is loaded with new parts throughout. It starts, runs, and drives just like it did in 1955, making for a wonderful driving experience. Also note this 1955 has been converted to a 12V negative ground electrical system.
The interior is a real knockout and the nicest 1950’s Ford we’ve seen. Finished in Salmon and Coppertone, it is befitting of their flagship offering. I think the pictures speak for themselves; the seats, door panels, dashboard, and that magnificent headliner all look fantastic. This Crown Victoria is also loaded with great features. There is an 8-tube AM radio with front and rear speakers and a deluxe rear antenna. It has backup lights along with underhood and trunk lights. There are also glove box and map lights. Additional features include a power seat, twin rear window defoggers, twin door mirrors, day-night rear view mirror, and an electric clock. The car also has a working speedometer, fuel gauge, horn, heater, and parking brake. All headlights, warning lights, and turn signals work as well. So do all the courtesy lights including those in the door jambs (which really look neat at night). Finally, it has also been fitted with front and rear seat belts.
This really is a unique car representing the first year of Crown Victoria production. It has a stunning appearance and runs as good as it looks. It is also loaded with features that you don’t often find. If you’re in the market for an exceptional first-generation Crown Victoria then you may have found your car.
