1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk
Nut and bolt restoration with numbers matching engine. This is a real work of automotive art! Purchased from an estate, so much of it's history is unknown. The car presents amazingly and the way it operates will give you a lot of confidence in the restoration work that was done.
The Golden Hawk was essentially a hot rodded version of a familiar commuter. Based on a two-inch shortened profile of the marque's Commander Starliner hardtop, the Golden Hawk had ornate fins, a reworked trunk, a beefier hood and a reshaped F-86 Sabre-inspired grille. That more aggressive bonnet hid a supercharged Sweepstakes V8 that's exclusive to two years of Golden Hawk production. And this first-year supercharged Golden Hawk would join the ranks as the best performing Studebaker produced until the 1963 Avanti launched as the world's fastest production car.
This is a very rare car which was one of only 4,356 produced. Stunning white and gold color combination with a gold interior. In its day, the Golden Hawk was compared with the Chrysler 300B, Ford Thunderbird and Chevrolet Corvette. Zero to 60mph was 7.8 seconds and top speed of 125mph. The Golden Hawk was one of the very first muscle cars.
