Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is proud to offer for your consideration this
beautiful and rare 1962 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster
Convertible. This "Bullet Bird" is one of only 1,427 Sports
Roadsters produced in 1962 and is highly coveted due to it's
classic body lines and styling. It looks great with the top up, but
when the top goes down it's simply breath-taking! The trunk opens
up and literally swallows the convertible top - exposing the
fiberglass tonneau cover that covers the back seat and creates the
illusion of a 2-seater coupe. Please check out the additional video
of the coolest opening and closing of a convertible top ever! This
T-Bird has been repainted it's original color of Corinthian White
at some point in it's life and the paint looks very even, glossy,
and slick. The chrome and brightwork are abundant and in excellent
condition. The wrap-around front bumper, elaborate grill, quad
headlight bezels, and turquoise Thunderbird emblem on the hood are
instantly eye-catching. Both front fenders are graced with gleaming
Thunderbird logos that accentuate the bullet-shaped nose. Chrome
trim on the upper edge of the body line runs the entire length of
the car on both sides and also serves as the door handles - simply
beautiful styling. The window glass is clear and in great shape.
The white convertible top is flawless with no tears or stains and
it's rear plastic window is clear and crack-free. The space-age
styling continues at the rear of the car with massive round
tail-lights that resemble rocket thrusters. The rear bumper
features a hidden gas filler and shines just as the front one. This
T-Bird sits nicely atop 48-spoke Kelsey-Hayes designed chrome wire
wheels wrapped in brand new American Classic white-wall tires.
Under the hood lies a correct 390ci V-8 topped with a 4-barrel
carburetor. The logo embossed valve covers and air cleaner are both
dressed in grey. While under the hood you'll notice this car is
equipped with power steering and power brakes with a single
resevoir. The entire engine bay is exceptionally clean and
well-sorted - very stock in appearance. The 390 is mated to a
3-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission that sends power to the rear
with 3.00:1 gears. Exhaust exits through cast manifolds to newer
looking pipes and mufflers before coming out in the rear. Braking
power is applied by drums on all four corners. When you open the
driver's door a courtesy light illuminates the beautiful OEM style
red interior. A full-length center console divides the bucket seats
and flows up to the dash with ribbed horizontal aluminum trim that
becomes part of the dash then curves and moves on to the door
panels. The whole effect is a wrap-around cockpit feel that just
pulls you in. The coolest feature inside the car though is the
swing-away steering column that, when in park, can be moved to the
right approximately 18 inches - allowing for easy entry and exit.
The original steering wheel with working horn is attached to this
unique steering column. The interior is in very good condition with
a crack-free dash, very nice newer carpet, comfortable seats with
no rips or tears, and good looking door panels. The power windows,
gauges, wipers, and aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette stereo with
Thunderbird emblem all work. The heater and fan are unfortunately
inoperable. The car comes with an original owners manual and
service records from 2016 to present. It's not everyday that one of
these rare Thunderbirds comes available - especially one in such
good condition. This is an opportunity to own an iconic piece of
American automotive history that you won't want to let pass you
by!
