HIGHLIGHTS: Documented two-owner! Beautiful restoration! Champagne
over red cloth interior! Front-wheel drive classic creampuff!
Personal luxury cruiser! This IS your father's Oldsmobile!
BODY OVERVIEW: Sold new here in NC in 1974, the original owner kept
this car until 2019 when Shelton Classics & Performance sold it to
the current owner. As one would expect of a car like this with a
long-term, loving owner, the body is in amazing condition! The body
is as straight as can be, and all hard to find Toronado specific
badging and parts are in place and in good condition. The underside
is just as clean as the top, with a quality undercoating job and
recent exhaust system.
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: The exterior has received a high-quality
repaint in the original color. Nothing other than OEM+ quality
would be satisfactory for this vehicle! This car is a classic show
stopper, and you're sure to turn heads anywhere you go! The maroon
vinyl top is a wonderful contrast with the silver paint, and really
serves to accent the classy and curvaceous lines of this
vehicle.
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The interior is nearly all original
and in amazing condition for this well-maintained car. All plastic,
vinyl, and cloth is in fantastic condition showing extremely
minimal wear, age, and sun damage. One look at the condition of the
interior is proof of pride of ownership! The classic 1970s red
interior is the ideal choice for this Toronado, an icon of the
"Malaise" era. One interesting option (or perhaps the lack thereof)
you may have noticed is crank windows. We've never seen another one
without power windows! What a peach!
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: The original owner was a true "car guy" and
Oldsmobile enthusiast, so it is no surprise that this Toronado has
seen nothing but maintenance and care over the years including
major maintenance when necessary to keep it up to snuff for shows.
An Oldsmobile Club of America member, the original owner took care
of this car as a parent would of a child. This car took both First
Place and Best of Class at the 2016 Olds Nationals in Kingsport,
TN. Under the hood is the original 455 cubic inch V8 engine. It has
been rebuilt and repainted while in the care of the original owner
to keep up the immaculate look of the vehicle, and it purrs like
only an Oldsmobile could. All of the original engine bay stickers
appear to be in place, as well as an original GM Frigidaire A/C
compressor. All of the front wheel drive components are in place
and in excellent, serviceable condition. This car drives
phenomenally! If you're looking for a well-maintained, documented
two-owner, show winning Toronado, it is unlikely you will find a
better example on the market!
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: This is a one-of-a-kind time
capsule that has been painstakingly maintained and has the trophies
to prove it. The trophies this car has earned stayed with the
original owner's family, and are not included in the sale.
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: This is a hard one to hate
on!
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? The A/C is not currently operational, and
the low beam headlight bulbs need to be replaced. Please refer to
the Does It Work? list below for full details.
WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Anyone looking for a
beautifully preserved example of an uncommon car!
The awards and photographs shown are not included in the sale. They
have been retained by the original owner's family.
