Vehicle Description
Like the idea of owning a classic muscle car but think better of
diving head first into a high-dollar investment that's more garage
furniture than street brawler? We've got the classic for you! A ton
of time and money was spent making this handsome Oldsmobile one of
the best resto-mods on the planet. Wrapping spectacular Flame
Orange and White aesthetics around a massaged chassis, a proven
Muncie 4-speed and 455 cubic inches of built Rocket V8, this cool
Cutlass is an easy way for any enthusiast to enjoy the collector
car hobby. Looking for a well-restored hot rod that's up for roads
or cruise-ins? Here's your hot ticket!
TWILIGHT PHENOMENON
A gallant California cruiser that's benefitted from a frame-off,
nut-and-bolt restoration, this authentic Cutlass S hardtop mixes
solid GM sheetmetal with $16K worth of professionally sprayed
two-stage paint. That metal, original factory fare with the
exception of the car's GM licensed Troy Thornton W25 Hood, was
fully disassembled and professionally media blasted. That pigment,
sprayed panel by panel, is date-correct Flame Orange Iridescent
that looks absolutely great under Cameo White 442 Stripes.
Naturally, that bonnet flows well with Olds' coveted W29 442
Appearance and Handling Package. And today, this coupe rolls as a
fully sorted stunner that essentially defines the resto-mod
movement!
At the front of the car's glowing profile, a blacked out Rocket
emblem joins a fresh bumper, black-trimmed headlights and clear
parking lamps to frame aggressive, silver-spiced grilles that
feature prominent "442" lettering. A $3K W25 Hood floats stainless
locks opposite stainless-trimmed glass that's led by a tinted
windshield, guarded by fresh SoffSeal and shaded by body-matched
drip rails. Body-matched sport mirrors reflect factory handles,
factory markers, NOS wheel liners and tasteful "442" fender
emblems. And at the back of the car, a second fresh bumper bends
intricate 442 tail lamps between a stylish "442" deck script and
stainless Pypes trumpets.
TAKEOFF BOOSTER
Lift this classic's lightweight hood and you'll find one of the
biggest and baddest engines to ever prowl the streets: Oldsmobile's
legendary 455 cubic inch Rocket V8. But wait, there's more. Not
only has that hot 1970 mill been professionally rebuilt by the pros
at DeLand, Florida's Express Engines, it's also been carefully
honed and bored .030 over for even more pavement-bruising fun! The
good times begin with a trick K&N X-Stream air cleaner, which
floats reusable filter elements above 750cfm of Holley Brawler
double pumper. That carb, piped to stainless lines and an electric
choke, surfs an aluminum Edelbrock Performer Olds 455 intake, which
feeds aluminum Edelbrock Performer RPM heads. Those heads tilt blue
Oldsmobile valve covers and a slight K&N breather over Harland
Sharp roller rockers and Morel roller lifters. Stout 10.5 to 1
compression is created by a balanced rotating assembly, which spins
an Eagle crank, forged Icon pistons and Eagle H-beam rods at the
sides of a COMP hydraulic roller cam. The fires get lit by an MSD
Pro-Billet distributor, which sequences spark between an MSD
Blaster coil, MSD 6AL ignition and loomed MSD Street Fire Wires.
Those wires split 442-spec W/Z exhaust manifolds, which dodge a
rebuilt Delco high-torque starter. Pliable V-belts spin a
color-keyed water pump between a COMP Double Roller Timing Set and
a Delco one-wire alternator that features a built in regulator. A
media blasted core support hangs a four-core Champion radiator at
the head of a traditional, Satin Black engine bay. And naturally,
detailing is on point, with items like a fresh Delco Moraine brake
booster and a six-quart Milodon oil pan complementing correct
Inline Tube fluid lines and a quality Melling high-volume oil
pump.
STRUCTURE A GO
That massive block is trailed by a trusty RAM clutch, which kicks
an era-correct Muncie M20 4-speed. Those cogs twist torque to a
tough GM 10-bolt that's finished with an Eaton limited-slip
differential and sporty 3.73 gears. That pumpkin pushes a
masterfully massaged rear-clip that augments Moog springs and PMT
Fabrication control arms with polyurethane bushings, Monroe
coli-overs and a one-inch sway bar. Opposite that clip, an upgraded
front-half augments Moog springs and UMI Performance control arms
with Delrin bushings, Monroe shocks and a 1.25-inch sway bar. Easy
turns come courtesy of lucid power steering that's comprised of
Moog linkage components and a quick-ratio gearbox. Solid stops are
provided by factory discs and drums. All that hardware rides a
rugged GM frame that's been professionally media blasted and, along
with the car's floors, refinished with POR-15 semi-gloss rust
preventive paint. 2.5-inch aluminized exhaust shuttles spent gases
through throaty Dynomax Ultra Flo mufflers. And everything rolls on
custom American Racing Super Stock Is, which spin McGard lifetime
lug nuts inside 255/60R15 Goodyear Eagle GTs and 275/60R15 Goodyear
Eagle GTs.
FLY FLIGHT DECK
Extremely tasteful and unquestionably timeless, this Cutlass's
correct White interior is a perfect place to cruise the day away!
Correct factory buckets join a correct factory bench under fresh
foam and plush Legendary vinyl. Fade-free carpet centers Legendary
mats and a "442" branded shifter on a refurbished factory console,
which rides opposite original Cutlass S side panels. In front of
that shifter, a lightly customized dash founds crisp factory
telemetry next to an integrated Sunpro Super Tach II and subtle
Sunpro accessory gauges. The driver spins a sporty Rallye Pack
Steering Wheel, and the passenger store essentials in a lighted and
matted trunk.
Restored, reliable, and ready to rock and roll, this brilliant Olds
is guaranteed to please even the most discerning classic car
enthusiast. Looking for awesome top-tier muscle that you can
actually drive and enjoy? Look no further than this cool
Cutlass!
