This 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 tribute has a modern shine and a
five-speed, but everything from the texture of the seats to the
growl of the V8 gives the impression of a vintage pony car. So it's
hard not to fall in love/lust with a classic muscle car that has
subtle updates.
The vibrant Calypso Coral is a great classic Ford color that was
added as part of the solid investments in this coupe. So it strikes
an interesting overall balance of the modern and vintage worlds
that can attract serious attention at the car shows. And since this
pays tribute to the distinct Mach 1, it makes sure to showcase the
best pieces in a high-contrast black. This includes the blackout
hood with NACA ram air hood scoops, a large chin spoiler, side
hockey stick stripes, and a large rear spoiler. There are even
details that add to the darkness, like the deeply tinted windows,
black door handles, and an awesome set of 17-inch black Torq Thrust
wheels. And since they took the time to upgrade this pony car,
there are also some subtle additions that make a nice difference.
This includes the larger dual exhaust tips and Cobra front badge.
Plus, while there was a color-matched front bumper option in 1971,
also painting the rear gives this an overall sleeker style.
The restoration of the interior was done in a muscle car friendly
black vinyl. The nice headliner, clean door panels, and newer
carpeting make it quite inviting. And we love how the seats have a
true 1970s classic texture but a new and fresh feel. But this is
more than just a restored classic coupe. It's built to be a true
driver's car with upgrades like a Grant sports steering wheel,
AutoMeter Sport-Comp readouts (including auxiliary ones prominently
in the dash,) and a Hurst shift that works well with the large
tach. So while you have an upgraded AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth, we
all know the best driving soundtrack on this pony car begins under
the hood.
Under the hood is exactly what you want to see: a clean and mean
powerhouse. This is a 351 cubic-inch Windsor V8 with a mild bore
and stroke kit. It has go-fast goodies like a Holley four-barrel
carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake, and wrapped
headers feeding an X-pipe dual exhaust. You'll also spot good
supporting components like an aluminum radiator, electric fan,
Summit electronic ignition, MSD coil, and an Optima battery. It
warms up to be a strong powerhouse, and you get to utilize it to
the fullest thanks to a five-speed manual transmission upgrade. Add
in power steering, power brakes, front discs, and modern sport
tires, and you have a terrific total package.
This is that vintage long-body Mustang that has been upgraded to be
a terrific Mach 1 with the right modern additions. Call
