Vehicle Description
This 1982 Chevrolet Camaro Berlinetta has a touch of an unassuming
sleeper vibe thanks to the clean and smooth look of an early
first-gen coupe. But as you notice the upgraded wheel package and
cowl hood, it clues you in on the comprehensive powerful street
machine build that lies within.
This Camaro is a desirable car even before the performance
upgrades. This was the first year of the 3rd generation, and it
ushered in a whole new kind of style. The well-integrated front end
and fastback-like profile proved the design was clean, sleek, and
distinct, which established an icon right from the beginning year.
This example is said to have been painted about 15 years ago. So
the classic white still looks good with its updated gloss on good
sheet metal, but it's also not so perfect that it will stop you
from driving this Camaro... and all the other upgrades will prove
this was made to own the street. Because this is an inaugural year
car, we like that they updated the sporty style without taking away
from the overall factory styling. No one added extra wide fender
flares, a big rear spoiler, or flames down the side. There are just
tasteful upgrades, like the cowl hood that respects the Chevy
muscle car history. And the Billet Specialties racing wheels have a
classic style and the right touch of upgraded stance from the rear
Hoosier drag radials.
The interior has the clean and stock look of a driver's car that's
easy to hop in on a whim and enjoy. After all, the high-back
buckets seats with soft velour trim will always be quite inviting.
While items like the shift light remind you that this is an
upgraded power car, you'll also just appreciate it for its overall
nice impression. There are good details like the clean glass,
pliable weather stripping, smooth dash, and even the classic early
Camaro premium steering wheel is still in place. There are even
convenient features like power windows, power locks, an armrest
center console, a tilt steering column, and an upgraded AM/FM/CD
stereo.
While the 3rd gen Camaro was the right sports car for its time, we
also know this is the beginning of the end of the era for Chevys
that love a good engine swap. So this one takes advantage of that
nature with an upgrade to a 400 cubic-inch V8 - a displacement
larger than anything that was offered in the series. We're also
told this was bored .40 over, and the internals were upgraded with
Wiseco pistons, a Scat crank, Scat rods, a Lunati camshaft, Comp
Cams roller rockers, and ARP bolts. The top end includes Promaxx
aluminum heads, an Edelbrock Victor Jr. air-gap intake, and a
ProForm 750 four-barrel carburetor. It exhales with added muscle
and rumble as Dougs long tube headers feed a dual exhaust with
Cherry Bomb glasspacks. This is a big power package, and so the
upgrades go all the way to where the power meets the pavement. It
includes a beefed up TH350 three-speed automatic transmission with
2800 stall and a Ford 9-in rear running 3.90 spool gears. The
chassis is even stronger thanks to comprehensive subframe
connectors, a tubular central support, and tubular rear suspension
arms. It makes for a powerful and solid package. Plus, power
steering, power brakes, and front discs give this upgraded Camaro
an easier driving nature.
The sale comes complete with the original window sticker, owner's
manual, and a cam card. This is the first-year 3rd gen Camaro that
has a cool classic style and serious muscle car power. So don't let
a total package like this slip away. Call today!!!
