Vehicle Description
One of only 7,014 Boss 302s built in 1970, this outstanding Ford
Mustang Boss 302 is an outstanding example of an iconic muscle car.
This car checks all the boxes for the true aficionado. It's listed
in the 1969-70 Boss 302 Registry. As the Marti Auto Works Report
and original Ford invoice (Lois Eminger Report) document. this car
was ordered with a Calypso Coral exterior, a Black Rhino/Corinthian
vinyl bucket-seat interior and the following options: rear deck
spoiler, F60x15 belted tires with raised white letters, tachometer,
AM radio, power steering, 4-speed wide-ratio manual transmission
and Traction-Lok differential. Only 866 examples were painted
Calypso Coral. This car was built at Metuchen on June 26, 1970. The
order type was labeled as a "Sales Vehicle" for the Ford Motor
Company Buffalo District Sales Office. It was shipped to Colonial
Ford located in Tonawanda, NY, where the Ford employee took
delivery of his personal car on August 17, 1970. The car was
purchased from the Ford employee in 1976 by Gary Duprez of
Smithtown, NY. The Ford employee left the Ford Motor Company and
started working for a local Toyota dealership, where Gary would see
it parked. One day Gary noticed it had a "For Sale" sign in the
window and he bought it. Gary put the car into storage when he went
away to college. At that time his friend was working at Smithtown
Ford and offered him parts at cost. Gary knew he was keeping the
car for a long time, so he bought everything that he could. In the
late '90s Gary decided to do a high-quality correct restoration.
The car retains most of its original sheet metal and a new OEM
Shaker hood. The body panel fitment is excellent and extremely
straight. The car was refinished in its original color of Calypso
Coral paint. The paintwork is incredible and was recently detailed
to a brilliant shine. Every piece of glass is either NOS or
brand-new Carlite. Every piece of chrome is NOS and came out of a
Ford box. Some examples of NOS parts include the antenna,
windshield wiper arms, side-vent window trim, hood trim, front
grille trim, grille, center grille emblem, front spoiler, door
handles, bumpers, front directional signal assemblies, trunk
letters, gas cap, reverse lights and wheels. The car sits on the
correct Goodyear Polyglas F60x15 raised-white-letter tires. The
gorgeous interior was completely restored in its original color.
The beautifully painted trunk compartment is equipped with a
factory-style trunk mat, spare tire, tools and inflator. The engine
compartment is highly detailed and very correct. The car is powered
by the original matching-numbers 302-4V Boss V8 engine that was
completely rebuilt and runs excellent. The engine was factory rated
with 290hp and 290 ft/lbs of torque. The original water pump and
alternator were both rebuilt. The distributor cap is an original
Autolite NOS part and it's equipped with an Autolite Group 24
battery. The engine is coupled to the original matching-numbers
4-speed wide-ratio manual transmission and original Traction-Lok
rear axle with 3.50 gears. The undercarriage is also highly
detailed throughout and very correct. This car is a multiple
award-winner and was most recently selected for Best of Show by
John Clor from Ford Motor Company's Performance Division. It was
selected by Ford Motor Company and photographed by Dan Lyons for
the Official Mustang Calendar. Gary Duprez, the proud owner of car
for 46 years from 1976-2022, has served as a Concours Judge for the
Boss 302 Class at several Shelby American Car Club Conventions.
Other documentation includes the original owner's manual, a letter
from Lois Eminger referencing the VIN dated 1990, 13 New York
registrations ranging from 1979-2022, receipts from 1994 and 1995,
an insurance policy from 1999, safety inspection from 2005 and tons
of original marketing material. This car was recently serviced and
detailed, which is documented with an invoice that is included.
