Vehicle Description
This custom 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle's restoration process started
in 2012 and was completed in 2021. It was media-blasted inside-out,
top to bottom, then refinished with top-of-the-line PPG products,
from the metal to topcoats. All the trim is new or restored,
including the bumpers, vinyl top and glass. The interior features
Legendary Auto Interior products everywhere: seat covers, foam,
headliner, platinum door panels, package tray, ACC carpet, and a
new instrument cluster with factory tach and gauges. Additional
interior features include a Vintage Air system, digital AM/FM
radio, tilt steering and new seat belts. When it came time for the
engine, Fred White was contacted and a new White's Performance
496ci (dyno sheet included) was purchased and installed. Clutch
duties are handled by McCloed RST twin-disc unit, then power is
transmitted to a TREMEC TKX600 overdrive transmission. The rear
axle is a 12-bolt GM unit with Auburn posi-traction unit, 3.55
Yukon gears and Moser 30-spline axles. Driveshaft duties are
handled by a balanced Performance Driveline driveshaft outfitted
with 1350 U-joints and billet yokes. It rolls on Billet Specialties
Profile Stiletto 18x8 front 18x10 rear wheels wrapped in Nitto
NT555. The exhaust is a 3-inch Pypes with H-pipe crossover,
Flowmaster sheet metal mufflers and 2.5-inch tailpipes outfitted
with factory chrome SS tips. Brakes chores are handled by a stock
disc front and drum rear setup. The cooling system is a 4-core
aluminum radiator with dual electric 12-inch fans that are powered
by a heavy-duty alternator to keep up with them and the Vintage Air
system. All in all, the car is new front to back and has a red
interior complementing the gray and black exterior.
