From the Claude O estate. We purchased 25 cars from his collection.
He kept a full-time mechanic because he wanted to be able to drive
any car at any time. This one has only 68,000 original miles! 2
owners most of it's life. Bought new by Mr. Hoard January 10th,
1956 in Seattle Washington. In 1965 he moved to California and
brought the car with him. He owned the car until 1980 when the 2nd
owner, who was a collector bought the car. Only 4,071 ever made. It
was one of the quickest cars of that year, quicker than the
Corvette and Thunderbird!
EXTERIOR: What a great looking car. No other car looks like this,
it certainly stands out. It's a pillarless sloped hardtop with a
raised hood for the bigger motor and fiberglass tailfins. Rust free
western body. No rust, it's straight and fits nice. There is minor
damage at the rear corner of the hood. Gorgeous two-tone paint:
midnight black and snowcap white. It's smooth glossy. Paint is in
overall very nice condition. The bumpers were rechromed, side
moldings are polished. The rest of the chrome and trim is very good
original. Original glass. Original hubcaps on white wall tires.
There is an oil change sticker from 1997, only 500 miles have been
put on since!
INTERIOR: Seat cushions and upholstery is excellent. The back seat
has a cool center armrest. Door panels are good originals. Cool
dash area with machine turned trim and airplane style gauges
including a tachometer. Correct tight loop carpet is in excellent
condition. Original headliner is very good, needs a little
reassembly.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This year they stuffed a big 352-275 hp 4
barrel motor in the Golden Hawk. This is considered one of the
early muscle cars. The engine bay and components are detailed like
factory new. Correct carb and air cleaner assembly, correct Sky
Power valve covers.
It features electric wipers, power steering and a 12 volt battery.
The wiring looks clean. There are original assembly line markings
still on the firewall from 1956. Upfront is a vintage Luber Finer
oil filter system.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Completely clean metal painted gray. Comes with
spare tire and jack assembly. Trunk mat, tire cover and
weatherstrip look new.
UNDERSIDE: Very respectable original condition, maintained as
needed. Rust free frame and chassis components. Smooth satin black
metal. The floors appear to be rock solid with original undercoat.
Various front end parts look recent: shocks, springs, swaybar
hardware, steering hardware. It has dual exhaust with optional
tips. Drum brakes all around, e-brake cables are hooked up. Bottom
of the motor looks clean. It has the Ultramatic transmission.
Conclusion: Cool car! I walked through our showroom and this car
stood out to me amongst all the other beautiful cars. It's stylish
and unique. A real pleasure to look at!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
