Vehicle Description
This custom 1958 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was designed and
built by Idaho Muscle Cars. It is powered by a 572ci big-block
Chevrolet crate engine producing 720hp with a Holley
engine-management system, a manual 6-speed manual transmission and
rear-wheel drive. The exhaust is fabricated from 3-inch
stainless-steel tubing connected to dual chrome-plated MagnaFlow
mufflers. The rear differential is fabricated with a 9-inch Ford
Strange nodular iron center section with a 31-spline axle. The
differential is mounted using an Art Morrison triangulated 4-bar
system with coilover shocks. The driveshaft and custom aluminum
fuel tank are both chrome-plated and polished. The engine received
a Cross-Ram injection system from Kinsler Fuel Injection, as well
as a custom polished aluminum radiator and condenser with a 16-inch
electric fan that was custom-built for this vehicle. The headers
are fabricated from polished stainless steel that connect to the
exhaust under the vehicle. The entire header assembly is wrapped in
heat-resistant Kevlar material. The engine was tuned and
dyno-tested by Auto Trend Pennila Racing. This car sits on a GT
Sport chassis by Art Morrison that was specifically ordered for
this Pro-Touring build. The complete chassis includes 13-inch
drilled and slotted rotors with Wilwood 6-piston calipers. The
brake lines are all fabricated from polished stainless-steel tubing
with AN Fittings and it has an electric parking brake. A polished
and chrome Vintage Air front runner system provides air
conditioning, while the alternator and power steering use detailed
mounting brackets. It features polished and chrome-plated
components with polished Billet pulleys. This car rides on Schott's
Tomahawk billet wheels that are polished on both sides. The front
wheels measure 19x10 with 285/30ZRx19 rims, while the rear wheels
measure 20x12 with 345/25ZRx20; all are wrapped in Nitto Invo Max
Performance street radial tires. The upholstery is fully
custom-fabricated by Gabe's Street Rod custom interiors and sewn to
quality standards using two different styles of European leather.
The dash was custom-fabricated with custom gauges from Classic
Industries. A tilt steering wheel was installed with a matching
custom 3-piece billet steering wheel by EVOD to match the wheels.
The steering wheel is wrapped with leather, with the shift knob
also wrapped in matching leather featuring baseball-style
stitching. It has a custom stereo that was installed by the Audio
Shop and a keyless push-button ignition. All the exterior emblems
have been removed, and the one-year-only trunk lid had its spears
removed for a smooth appearance.
