Vehicle Description
This 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster Re-creation is powered by a VW 1250
Scat engine, producing approximately 130hp, with twin Weber
carburetors and Bosch ignition and fuel pump, mated to a 4-speed VW
manual transmission with upgraded suspension. The car was purchased
as a rolling chassis with no engine from Rock West Racing in San
Diego, CA, and was then worked on by the consignor and Palumbo
Automotive. Many of the parts supplied by Rock West had to be
replaced, including the pedal assembly, brakes, throttle linkage,
fuel pump, fuel filter, battery cables, fuse box and tires. This
car was sent back to California in 2016 to have the top fitted and
installed, where it also received a service and adjustment on the
carburetors, which were not working properly. The carburetors were
rebuilt in 2022 and are now working properly. This car was bought
to be a project for the owner and their high-school-aged daughter
to work on together. It was featured in ReinCarNation Magazine in
November 2017. **TITLED AS 1974 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE**
