Vehicle Description
1972 AMC Gremlin X - 401ci V8 - 4 Speed Manual - AMX 20 Rear End -
Purple Over Black Interior - Repainted Approximately 20 Years Ago
Younger generations may have heard the name Gremlin in relation to
the popular '80's films, but might not have any idea that AMC
produced a small car called the Gremlin. The AMC gremlin may have
been a bit of a plain car by today's standards, but a Gremlin X
like the one you see here is a car that can be a bunch of fun.
Unlike those pesky evil Gremlins in the movie. Offered here is a
Gremlin X which has some special modifications which enthusiasts
can appreciate. A slightly different paint color than the factory
hue, a custom engine, and a 4 speed transmission. After seeing this
Gremlin, car enthusiasts may never look at a nice clean Gremlin the
same again. AMC's Wild Plum Metallic is the color that this Gremlin
was originally painted, although now the color looks to be closer
to MOPAR's Plum Crazy. It's a great color on this little car,
especially when paired with the white Gremlin X graphics. Speaking
of the graphics, those were part of the Gremlin X package, which
also offered a body color painted grille surround, slot style 14x6
wheels, and additional Gremlin decals. This car's paint is in
beautiful condition, showing even gloss and color throughout. The
white decals and painted accents were professionally applied, and
other exterior accents like the chrome roof rack, chrome mirrors,
and chrome bumpers add a little contrast to the Plum paint. Taking
a turn in the driver's seat means you get a bird's eye view of the
few extras that were available to those purchasing a new Gremlin
back in the early '70's. Sport steering wheel, silver face gauges,
engine turned aluminum gauge surround (a la Pontiac TransAm),
bucket seats, lap and shoulder seat belts, folding rear seat,
carpeted trunk area, and an AM/FM radio. Add ons that were
installed in this particular Gremlin are column mounted tachometer,
and a Hurst shifter which are helpful tools given the power plant
under the hood. Ready to mash the gas pedal? Be sure that this
Gremlin is pointed in a straight line! The power from the 401ci V8
under the hood can lead to inadvertently testing the amount of grip
the rear tires have. The 401 V8 is fed through a 4BBL carburetor,
with other upgrades being MSD ignition, NGK plug wires, and hi-rise
valve covers. A 4-speed manual transmission handles gear selection,
and an AMX 20 rear end does its best to put power to the pavement.
This awesome Gremlin was built with enthusiasts in mind and it may
change the way you and other enthusiasts look at Gremlins. This car
is a total package that's ready to surprise other drivers with its
capabilities. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific
questions. Thanks for looking.
