The 1965 Ford Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe holds a special place in the classic car world. After my grandfather passed away, I started a project to restore his favorite car to its original form. I had to give up that project recently after I moved and could not afford to store the vehicle.
His 1965 Ford Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe had a unique style for that year. The California car has never seen snow and is mostly stock. It’s white, 2 doors, has new chrome trim, re-chromed bumpers, bucket seats, original V8 289 engine, 3 speed on the floor automatic transmission, power steering, drum brakes and has been in the family since he purchased it new. It also has a clean title and has current tags registered in Nov22. The style of the car has tall/sharp fenders, flatter front end, tall grille, and quad headlights. The interior offers bucket seats, a new locking center console and new interior door panels. The hardtop roof has a formal yet sporty style that sets the tone right for the whole car. Even the pillarless windows give it an open feeling and adds a special flavor and attractive style to the car.
The engine is in good shape, but the transmission needs some TLC as well as the bucket seat upholstery. I also have some additional parts in the trunk that I was not able to install.
It’s a solid classic car and a great project for anyone willing to put in a little time and effort.
