Pontiac Historical documented, #s match. This was born a real 400
loaded with options. The story is that a Pontiac executive in
California ordered the car. It was the same owner until we bought
it in 2000. We recently acquired it from the estate of the person
we sold it to 22 years ago!
EXTERIOR: Clean original California metal. Dual scooped 400 hood
with a hood tachometer. The paint is at least 22 years old and
there is no rust or repairs showing. It is straight and fits right.
Beautiful, rare factory born color: Aleutian Blue. It is smooth and
glossy, there are touch ups and flaws if you look for them. Crystal
clear windshield. Bumpers look like they were rechromed. Good
original stainless trim, grills, door handles and mirrors. Good
original rally ll wheels and trim. BFG tires look great. The white
top is in excellent shape. It is a power top that has been
disconnected, it lifts manually easily. Weatherstrips were
replaced.
INTERIOR: Deluxe interior which includes molded door panels and
upgraded upholstery. Other features include power windows, remote
mirror, tilt wheel, console, clock, speed minder and a gauge
cluster. Upgraded with a cassette stereo and speakers in the door
panels. Overall, very good door panels, carpet and upholstery.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Correct casting code 400 motor. Less than 1,000
miles on a rebuild with a hotter cam. It has stock components:
valve covers, manifolds, air cleaner etc. Vet complete- heat riser
tube, hood insulation, fan shroud etc. Features include power
steering, power brakes, air conditioning, cruise control.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Clean, rust-free original metal with a neat coat
of spatter paint. Rally ll wheel for a spare on a new BFG tire. New
well liner and weatherstrip. Under the trunk lid and jamb are
painted nicely.
UNDERSIDE: It has the ride and handling package. Overall, it's
original under this car, maintained as needed. The clean, original
California metal is very impressive. The brakes have been redone.
They are disc in front, e-brake assembly is hooked up. Dual exhaust
system is clean, Dynomax mufflers. Upfront the steering box was
replaced, the ball joints look fresh. Looking up at the motor it's
very clean, new high torque starter. Turbo 400 automatic trans.
Original ten bolt rear end.
This is rare and desirable- the winning combination! There isn't
another one like it. The options and colors are impressive. The
documentation and originality make it a sound investment. I think
it is one of the most desirable 1968 Firebirds in the country!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
