Vehicle Description
1965 PONTIAC GTO HARDTOP "SURVIVOR"
We just purchased this awesome P.H.S. documented 1965 GTO Hardtop
at auction inadvertently from an older couple who were the second
owners. We were told that they owned the car since the early
1980's. They were using it originally as their second vehicle and
then only on weekends and special occasions which explains why it
only has 89,000 original miles. The best way to describe this
awesome GTO is it's an "Original Survivor Car" with 1 older
repaint. It still retains all of its original sheet metal, original
interior and original drivetrain. You really need to CHECK IT
OUT!!
The body, as mentioned is all original including all its outer
sheet metal, floors, trunk and frame all of which are straight,
solid and clean. Originally this car was "Cameo Ivory" but it was
repainted in a brighter shade of White. (Personal preference I
suppose) It is slick and smooth with a deep luster and show car
shine. It has an original black vinyl top, and the chrome, trim and
glass all appear original to the car and are incredibly in "like
new"condition too. The black bucket seat appears to be all original
too and is in incredible condition. It has its original console and
shifter, and everything works as it should too like the gauges,
wipers, lights and signals. It is all Very-Very Nice!
This GTO is powered by its original 389 c.i. 335 h.p. 4 BBL. V-8
engine that, we were told, had been rebuilt. All we know for sure
is that it runs smooth and strong and sounds awesome too. We just
performed a complete maintenance service to it and pulled the valve
covers to inspect the top end and to replace the valve covers. We
saw that the top-end looked extremely clean leading us to believe
the at least the top-end had been rebuilt and at best the whole
engine had been rebuilt as we were told by the previous owners.
Unfortunately there is no paperwork so it is what it is I suppose.
It is backed up by its original 2 speed automatic transmission and
original 3:23 rear.
Other features include cold aftermarket air conditioning, power
steering, rally 1 wheels with red-line tires, new dual exhaust with
correct splitter tips and the original AM radio that still
works!!
This is really a very nice all original 1965 GTO that has withstood
the test of time. It runs, drives and sounds awesome and looks
almost like it did the day it rolled off the showro
