Frame-off Jeep CJ5 restorations have become a favorite of ours.
This one further backs our reasoning for that with ACTUAL mileage
stated on the title. This Jeep has been in the same Florida family
since new!
This 1979 AMC Jeep CJ5 Renegade was built to be driven and is ready
for a new home. Finished as it came from the factory, the black
exterior pays homage to the NOS (New-Old Stock) Renegade decals.
The rebuild started with a new frame from Throttle Down Kustoms
which is stronger and more rigid than the factory frame. Commending
the strength of the frame are Old Man Emu YJ springs that give a
softer ride on the pavement and great off-road capability. Sitting
on a nice set of white wagon-wheels, the BF Goodrich tires roll
down the pavement or through the trails. Power brakes slow down the
frame and fiberglass with optional "Big Brakes from 1978" which are
also backed with new brake lines and hoses including proportioning
valve, master cylinder, rear wheel cylinder, rear drums and
hardware, front calipers and rotors as well as new parking brake
cables.
Power is derived from, "The best motor Jeep ever made," a 4.2L
Inline-6 with an original 81K miles mated to a 3-speed transmission
with a 2-speed Hi-Lo transfer case with locking hubs. New clutch,
new pressure plate, and all new linkage further back-up the
reliability of this duo. Modern fuel injection and HEI from
Performance Fuel Injection Systems feed this CJ5 the air and gas it
needs while pumping it from the new fuel tank through the correct
gas lines, return lines, and vent lines.
Continuing the restoration is a modern wiring harness from Centech
which gives the energy needed for the new alternator, new start,
and new battery. Also new is the power steering assembly consisting
of the steering box, steering pump, steering shaft, and the hoses.
Wrapping up the mechanics of this restoration are a new radiator,
water pump, heater core, and all hoses and accompanying
hardware.
Inside this Levis edition CJ5 is the denim-style seats matched by a
Levis Spiced top from BestTop. The windows and doors have never
been used and only put on for the pictures. Fiberglass body, hood,
and fenders ensure rust will not be a cause for concern ever again.
The roll-bar and seat belts are connected to the frame. Many spare
parts can come along with the sale including new one-piece rear
axles which have not been installed.
