The tough and rugged Gelandewagen is a stalwart of the
Mercedes-Benz range, having been in continuous production in
various forms from 1979 through today, making it the
longest-running model in Mercedes history. Officially known as the
G-Class, and colloquially known the world over as the G-Wagen, it
was developed by Steyer-Daimler-Puch as a military vehicle, and
later adapted for civilian use. While the G-Wagen of today is akin
to a tech-laden luxury steamroller, earlier models had a more
purposeful feel, built for the rigors of off-road use in any
environment imaginable. The highly appealing 1988 G200 is a
desirable short-wheelbase Italian-spec convertible, powered by a
2-liter M102.964 petrol engine, backed by a 5-speed manual gearbox
and dual-range transfer case with locking diffs. Finished in gray
with tartan-style fabric upholstery, it is nicely equipped with all
one needs for a stylish off-roader, including alloy wheels, and an
updated Becker stereo, and of course - a fully removable vinyl
roof. Presented in excellent condition throughout, this tidy and
attractive G-Wagen is ready for off-road fun and adventure. This
vehicle just arrived, and a full description is coming soon. Please
