Vehicle Description
1982 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
The Corvette name is synonymous with sleek styling, smooth
handling, and the raw power of an American-built sports car. Anyone
who finds themselves behind the wheel of one of these beautiful
rides is surely a lucky - and affluent - driver. This Corvette
brand is one of their biggest money-makers and serves as a great
creative outlet for their engineering team. With sports cars like
Corvettes, there are far fewer limits on mechanical and aesthetic
decisions involving cost or design. This is especially important
for their Corvette Racing division - they keep Chevrolet's hold
tight on the global racing market.
For consignment, a stock appearing but highly modified final year
C3 Corvette. Wearing a color change respray, original smoked glass
"T" tops, a powerful LS series V8 under the hood, some interior
upgrades, and 6-speed manual transmission, we have a nicely
presented Corvette from 1982 with a lot more kick in the pants than
it came with from the factory.
Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by
the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws
to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public
highways in your area.*
Exterior
Bathed in a color change from Classic White to the now lipstick
red, there are a few areas where the respray is slightly off in
color as well as some bubbling to the finish, chips and spider
cracks in the paint and underlying fiberglass. The same holds true
for the urethane bumpers in front and back which are also slightly
off color. Nice clear and clean smoked glass "T" top panels can be
removed for some fresh air driving and the passenger's compartment
glass has been darkly tinted to keep the competition guessing as to
who is behind the wheel. Sleek lines abound as do curves which are
accented by modern Stingray badging on the front fenders. Flared
fenders and wheel wells, a vent in the front quarter, and a small
rear spoiler which frames the still rounded rear complete with
round taillights. A greenhouse style rear curve around glass gives
this car a fastback look, and provides plenty of extra interior
light, and a storage area behind the buckets in front. 5 spoke
18-inch wheels courtesy of a Camaro are on the 4's and are wrapped
with Goodyear Eagle Sport radials in 245/50R18 format.
Interior
Nicely padded black leather door panels have a lower carpeted panel
power lock toggle and a storage pouch. We note some color loss on
the carpeted area allowing the original red to bleed through. Late
model Corvette Z06 seats show some wear, but are nicely
overstuffed, have great lumbar support, and show some folds on the
smooth surfaces. A center console races forward, and houses a
storage bin, E brake lever, power window switches and Hurst short
throw shifter. The centrally located console rise to the dash and
houses a quintuplet of aftermarket red digital readout LCD gauges
and an aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/CD radio. In front of the driver a
rectangular design instrument panel has the tachometer,
speedometer, also in aftermarket digital red LCD format and a trio
of warning lights. Black carpet floods the floors and storage area,
and is nicely preserved, but does have some fading and minimal
staining. Overall the interior is nicely presenting and clean.
Drivetrain
Long gone is the crossfire injected 350ci V8 this Vette wasborn
with. Now under the reverse opening hood resides a 5.7 Liter LS1 V8
circa 2003. It is fed fossils and atmosphere via EFI and a T56
6-speed manual Tremec transmission is bolted to the back. A 2.72
geared positraction rear axle spins the tires.
Undercarriage
Nicely cared for with slight surface rust on the frame and deep
black for the flooring. Independent coil springs in front and for
the rear fully independent half shafts, lateral struts, and
transverse leaf springs. Power disc brakes are all around and
headers snake their way down from the engine and join up with
nearly new dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. We note the
absence of catalytic converters on the exhaust system.
Drive-Ability
This car was a quick starter, and smooth runner. It has good
acceleration and handling and performs reliably across the board. A
good driver through and through with all functions operational at
the time of my drive.
A nicely modernized take on the final year C3 Corvette. Beautiful
body design and looking fab all over and we can't ignore the killer
LS1 and Tremec transmission now under the hood. Power, reliability
and good looks all wrapped up in a lipstick red package and
awaiting you in our East mallway.
