For Sale: 1978 Chevrolet Corvette in Fairview, Texas

Vehicle Description

"PRICE REDUCED"    21 miles on this SURVIVOR L82 Automatic Pace Car.  This car was built on April 25, 1978 and delivered to the owner with 5 miles on the odometer.   I have known this car since it was brought home on May 26, 1978 (Friday) just 2 days before the Indianapolis  500 where the Corvette was the Pace Car.

The key options on this car is the L82 engine, FE7 Gymkhana Suspension, K30 Cruise Master Speed Control, and UP6 AM/FM Stereo CB Radio/Pwr Antna which gave it a window sticker price (which is still on the car) of $14,578.21.    The car does have the original Indianapolis 500 decals in the box (picture of box in photos)

Documentation on this car consists of the Original hand written Dealer Detail Buyers Order, Owners Manual, Warranty Information, Freedom Battery Introduction (Original Delco Freedom Battery will come with the car), Blower Motor Operations guide, Aluminum Wheel Equipment description & maintenance instructions,  Visor instructions on operations of the sport mirrors and Turn signal - headlight dimmer and Ignition Key removal, Installation of the CB microphone fasteners, Consumer Information for the 1978 Corvette, Passenger Car maintenance guide, and tire warranty pamphlet.  In addition I have a copy of the original title.

The car starts and has a great idle to it.  I drove it around my driveway the day of the 2021 Indianapolis 500.  I recently put a new Delco battery in the car and do fire up the engine on a regular basis and take it on a loop around my driveway.

This car is an ultimate SURVIVOR.  It would be hard to find a more original car.  2 parts are known to have been replaced on this car.  1. The rubber gas pipe going from the frame rail to the fuel pump.  (I still have the original rubber pipe).  2.  I had the brakes and master cylinders taken off and sent to White Post Restorations who specializes in restoring brake parts on high end restoration projects.  They put stainless steel sleeves in the original calipers and master cylinder. During removal of the left rear brake the brake line crimped so it was  replaced  during the re-install of the calipers.

I have been the care taker of this car for many years and it is time to let a new owner enjoy this car for many years to come.
