Vehicle Description
1963 Corvette Grand Sport Coupe The Corvette presented here is an
attempt to duplicate Grand Sport chassis #0004. The car was owned
by Grady Davis and driven by famed driver, Don Yenko. This car
started life as a 1963 silver coupe with dark blue interior. By the
time it was retrieved from an Ohio junkyard in 2000, the only
things remaining were the center section bird-cage, two doors, and
the title. Attached to the frame is a '91 Corvette suspension
system, including wheel hubs and disc brakes. Adjustable coil-over
shocks are present up front with Carrera adjustable shocks in the
rear. A Rock Valley stainless steel custom fuel cell resides
in-between the frame rails. The power source is a 1971 LT1 Corvette
engine stroked to 377 cu. In. and sporting a "Comp Cam", forged
pistons, big valve heads, and a cross ram intake manifold with four
Weber DCOE 45 carbs. Compression was increased to 10:1 to be closer
to the 1970 370 hp LT1 specifications. A close ratio Muncie 4 speed
transmission completes the drive train. The tires are 60 series
Goodyear Eagles. Dark blue '63 seats and carpeting along with white
faced Autometer gauges, plus a roll bar with Simpson racing
shoulder restraints and seat belts. There is a storage trunk in the
rear. Creature comforts include "Vintage Air" air conditioning,
tilt telescopic steering wheel, power steering and 4 wheel power
disc brakes, as well as an AM/FM radio and CD player. Engine:
