Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this super nice 1981 Trans Am which is in superb overall condition with low actual miles of 81,692. This TA is from Canada and the odometer reads in Kilometers and is currently showing 131,895 kilometers which equates to 81,692 miles. The kilometers and miles are documented as Actual on the current Ohio title and the previous New York title. This is a factory Starlight Black Trans Am and special edition pin stripes have been added. This TA features beautiful Black paint, an original black deluxe stock interior, the factory 305 engine and automatic transmission, and the factory Build Sheet and some original dealer documents and brochures. This TA is solid with great lines and gaps. This TA is finished in the desirable color combinations of Black over Black Deluxe interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured above and included build sheet. Vintage Vehicle Services Documents are also included. They are like the Canadian version of PHS documents but more detailed. The only way someone could get a Trans AM with a factory 305 engine with an automatic transmission is to be from Canada. These special low production TA's were only sold new in Canada and they come stock without the factory computer controlled carb. and distributor and without the extra smog equipment that the American cars came with in 1981.
Exterior
The Black exterior is in great stock condition. This TA has very nice paint with newer decals. The paint is in excellent overall condition and shows well and both bumpers are in great shape with no flaking or spider web paint. The paint has a deep shine and brilliant gloss and the paint is smooth to the touch. SE pin stripes were added along with new front bumper grills and new gold nose emblem. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires have near full tread left and have 4416 Dot codes which shows there were made on the 44th week of 2016. They are sized 225/70/15 and the 15" OEM snowflake wheels are in restored condition with new center caps. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in good condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with a factory correct trunk mat, and the original spare tire and jack.
Interior
The Black deluxe interior of this TA is in terrific mostly original condition. The original seat covers are in great overall condition with no major wear or seam splits and the drivers seat was recently repaired with new center NOS material. The carpet is in great shape with no major stains, rips, or holes and is in excellent condition. The original dash is in great overall condition with no warping or fading and the drivers side a pillar still has some original plastic pieces under the metal A pillar. The gold engine turned dash bezel was recently restored by Randy Combs with a new matching steering wheel and shifter plate. The stereo was upgraded to a digital Custom Audio Sound unit with digital presets and USB and mp3 hook ups. Thankfully the dash has not been cut for a modern CD stereo. New rear and front speakers were recently added. The original door panels are in excellent condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner and package tray are both in great condition. The headliner is the correct perforated material. All interior and exterior lights and gauges work as they should including the cigarette lighter. The horn, all gauges, stereo, wipers, rear defrost, and blower motor all work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever.
Mechanical
This TA is in great mechanical condition and the 305 engine runs well and the car performs nicely. This TA drives well with surprising power and the handling is great. The shocks were recently replaced. A new alternator and battery were added. A new radiator was added recently. The heater core was replaced. A new correct Q Jet carb. was installed. New true dual exhaust was recently installed and gives this TA a nice rumble at idle and cruising speeds. We have driven this car numerous times and it always performs well, it does not run hot, it rides tight, and is always a joy to drive. This TA is a spectacular driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time and runs well. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should and were serviced with new brake lines and hoses. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. The engine bay is very stock with many original hoses, stampings, decals, clamps, etc.
