This custom 1970 Gen 1 Ford Bronco 4x4 nicknamed "Maverick"
recently completed a full custom frame-off build that was the
result of a collaboration between Tre5 Customs, Ikandy Paintworks
and Paradise Customs. With over 1,400 hours spent on fabrication,
body and paintwork, the craftsmanship is second to none. The power
plant consists of a Gen 3 5.0-liter Coyote crate engine mated to a
Ford 10-speed (10R80) automatic transmission with the Atlas
twin-stick dual-range transfer case. Everything in the engine bay -
from the custom-made cold-air intake to the remote oil reservoir -
was designed to work seamlessly with every detail for which Tre5
and Ikandy Paintworks are known, from the engine performance to the
aesthetic appearance. Additional features include ceramic-coated
headers that mate up to the custom Borla stainless-steel exhaust
that provides the head-turning notes upon cold start and
outstanding acceleration. The total 5.5-inch lift comes from the
2-inch body lift with an 11-spring 3.5-inch suspension lift. The
lift, along with the James Duff T-Rex radius arms, allows the
required room needed for the 35-inch Mickey Thompson AT tires
wrapped around true beadlock Anza 17x9, 5x5.5 wheels. The wheels
are then mounted to a Dana 44 differential up front with a Ford
9-inch rear end sporting 4.10 gears and 31-spline axles, along with
a Truetrac limited-slip differential. Disc brakes are on all four
corners, with a Wilwood master cylinder and booster to ensure
proper stopping performance. In order to handle the larger tires,
significant horsepower increase and the added height, power
steering was a must, as were the AMP PowerSteps. The exterior was
painted to perfection with what is being described as an elevated
Brittany Blue, with a gray painted stripe embedded seamlessly into
the paint matching the gray hardtop. To keep with the color scheme,
the interior 6-point roll cage was painted to match the top, so
everything still coordinates when the weather allows top-down
driving. The hardtop was fabricated to have four billet retractable
lifting points that, when paired with the Bluetooth Garage Smart
winch system, lifts and store the top without any need for tools;
only 5 minutes is needed to go from hardtop on to hardtop off.
Should you choose to remove the doors, the quick-release hinges
allow for this option, with a built-in kill switch for the steps to
be manually controlled when they're extended without doors.
