Vehicle Description
Launched for 1961 and offered through 1967 with America's first
4-door convertible body style since the early 1950s, Lincoln's
reimagined Continental combined ultra-modern styling with an
ultra-low stance, making it ideal for a full Resto-Mod treatment.
This custom example from 1964 features a GM L76 V8 engine,
combining the all-aluminum LS2 short-block with free-flowing LS3
heads, matched to a GM 6L80E 6-speed automatic transmission.
Developing 490hp and 490 ft/lbs of torque at the crank, the engine
features deleted variable valve timing, a hot Corvette cam,
Sanderson ceramic-coated headers, and a custom tune. Updated
underpinnings include a Mobsteel rear air-ride suspension kit,
RideTech front control arms and AccuAir E-level air management.
Supporting features include an aluminum radiator with dual SPAL
electric fans, a relined fuel tank, Aeromotive in-tank electric
fuel pump, and a C5 Corvette fuel filter and pressure regulator.
Fully operational factory gauges are all integrated with the
LS-derived L76 engine, including the factory speedometer connected
to a Speedbox adapter. Power steering gear, factory hydraulic
windshield wipers and upgraded front disc brakes provide a relaxed
cruising experience. This Continental's interior features custom
bucket seats covered with high-quality vinyl, plus a
custom-fabricated center console with cupholders fashioned from '65
Continental headlight bezels. A Vintage Air system heightens
comfort with controls hidden inside the glove box. Additional
entertainment is provided by an Audison Sound "Q" stereo head unit,
hidden inside the console with iPhone connectivity and controls. An
Audison amplifier drives Audison speakers mounted within custom
kick panels and A-pillar mounts, with bass tones delivered by a
trunk-mounted 13.5-inch JL Audio subwoofer. Finishing touches
include a newer convertible top featuring top-quality Stayfast
material and a set of 20-inch Detroit Steel wheels mounting Diamond
Back classic whitewalls. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
