Vehicle Description
This Build-Sheet-documented 1971 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 convertible is
one of 110 built in 1971 and one of only 10 equipped with factory
air conditioning. More than just a special engine, the W-30 package
included the fiberglass hood with two large scoops to feed the ram
induction system, distinctive red fender liners, special suspension
and unique front-end geometry designed to maximize weight transfer
to the rear wheels under hard acceleration. Finished in the
'71-only Bittersweet with black stripes, top and interior, this
vehicle was restored in frame-off rotisserie fashion in 1991. It
was the second-highest-scoring car two years running at the
Oldsmobile Nationals in 1992 and 1993. Refreshed in 2016, this
ultra-high-optioned 442 W-30 incorporates the matching-numbers
455ci engine and drivetrain with dual exhaust and special Rochester
4-barrel carburetor, Turbo 400 HydraMatic transmission and 3.23:1
anti-spin third member, power steering and brakes, along with power
windows, top, locks and driver's seat. It is equipped with cruise
control, tilt column, console with Hurst Dual Gate shifter, AM/FM
radio, 8-track, SuperLift Rear Air Shock System, distinctive 442
rear spoiler, Super Stock III wheels and tinted glass. This W-30
factory air convertible is a well-documented four-owner car offered
with the original Broadcast Sheet, original warranty booklet and
Protect-O-Plate, original Owner's Manual and service records. Also
included in the sale are five original Super Stock I wheels.
